Uggh...what a shitty way to remember your birthday. Thanks, Obama!

I used to wonder the same thing. I also wondered where he found plastic surgeons who were shady enough to keep operating on him long after it was no longer ethical to do so. I had a boss who became addicted to plastic surgery, and at one point I said to him "IF you are able to find someone to perform that procedure on you, you should run like hell, because that doctor is a quack." The doctor he consulted would NOT do the procedure on him. Jackson should have stopped with the nose jobs in the mid eighties. His nose was completely destroyed and no longer worked the way a nose is supposed to.

John Lennon said Harry Nilson was his favorite American band. He had a beautiful voice.

Yeah, Lennon getting shot by an idiot, deranged, Christian just seemed to make it that much more painful. I started getting very nervous about the rise of "Christianity" around that time.Did you notice that during the late 1980s we stopped having assassinations and started having mass shootings instead? I guess after the Reagan and Pope assassination attempts security was increased for the famous. Or maybe it just makes a bigger splash when you shoot 20 little kids.

Why, God, WHY???? How does that evil old fuck Cheney keep going? Rush Limbaugh and Cheney are both big heart attacks waiting to happen, and yet they're still alive while Natalie Cole and David Bowie die. UNFAIR!!!!!

I have a problem understanding rap lyrics, but I never really had a problem understanding Nirvana. I didn't think I liked them until I got the CD "Nevermind." I loved it, and listened to it a LOT.

Even the gods don't want Cheney.

rather than having a "fuck you this is my art" attitude, he passed on his impressions and thus molded rock and pop for years to come, and in a good way.

I think that's because he was a fan and promoter of other people's art as well as being an artist himself. Seems he was truly generous in that way.

Geeze, I took two days off from Real Life to cope with relatives I don't like who insisted on visiting me, and I totally missed the news about about David Bowie. I smile every time I read his name because I bought the Ziggy Stardust album in 1972 with $5 I made mowing lawns, even though my mother said I couldn't because she thought he was weird, and then I could only listen to it when she was out of the house and I had to hide the LP in my closet. It got tricky and I was almost caught once, but she never did find out. Goodbye, Major Tom.

It's pronounced like "Zowie", not like Jim Bowie.

jesus, I catch up on old un-gotten-to Wonkette articles, and get to this one AS IF I wouldn't get all teary again, which I am, damn you all, blubber blubber sniff I LOVE YOU GUYS! sniff snort (sound of kleenex being ripped fast and repeatedly from its box...)

The spotify list is going to be the afternoon featured music at work today. We've been Bowie-ing it up at work for the last week, via Pandora's Bowie-Genome, but I think some pure Bowie is in order. Thanks.

Did Lennon really risk his life for peace?

I never liked him very much. He always came off to me and my friends as a pretentious jerk. Especially after I learned how badly he treated his son Julian.

Love the Beatles. Not Lennon. But he didn't deserve to murdered.

I was really sad when Laura Nyro passed away. A lot of people don't even know who she is but most know her songs. I always thought she was an amazing songwriter and singer. She died young too.
