Let me tell you how fucking THRILLED I am that this charlatan will have the opportunity to fuck around with this stuff right before I become eligible.

My mom was an avid and gullible watcher of this grifter, always looking for the magic bullet that would make her lose weight without effort. Thanks to him and his ilk, she now has an immovable distrust of what she calls "Western medicine" because Dr. Oz et. al. said "alternative therapies" work better.

As her illnesses and ailments mount up and she complainingly allows a posse of "Western medicine practitioners" to treat her and keep her alive, a teeeeeeny little piece of me wishes that she was sentient enough to be afraid of the danger he poses to the unlimited and low-cost health care she currently (and grudgingly) receives... but as a Trumpenvoter herself, she's not rational enough to recognize facts.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Wicked. Okay, I know I can look this up, but sometimes it’s better to ask when making a point.

I have not seen Wicked. It’s been around for a long time. The daughter and her mother went to see it when one of the traveling shows came to town. This new movie is supposed to an amazing use of old school sound sets and cinematography.

So here’s my question. If Wicked is a very long running spectacular musical, aside from Carol Burnett’s Tarzan call, what song from it should I have heard and know?

Sweet Charity, Big Spender

South Pacific, Bali Hai

The Lion King, Hakuna Ma tatah

Wicked? Ahhhh ahhhhhh ahhhhhh!

When the Great Recession hit, I was working for A Major American Publication that was owned by someone worth $300mil. Yet instead of delaying his "make the mag profitable" plan, or subletting the 2/3 of our costly office space that was empty, or cutting everyone's pay a little, he laid off lots of employees. I was among them.

For the 1st time in my life, I couldn't find work. (I'm a mediocre person overall but a great employee.) Unemployment was about 50% in my field and so high overall that I couldn't get clerical temp work. And you know how it goes: The longer you're unemployed, the harder it is to find FT work -- esp. when you're in your late 40s. And then over 50.

Oh, and there was zero govt aid for me. Zero. The finance bros who caused the crash shd've been fined, with that money given to people like me whose lives they had destroyed but hahahahahahaha capitalism.

Fast forward. I have pancreatic cancer, and it was detected more than 2 yrs after the symptoms arose, bc I had no health insurance (I finally got Medicaid). Late detection is never good, esp. with a sneaky cancer like this, and CT scans this year suggest that it has metastasized to my lungs (I'm too depressed to get a biopsy). And now this -- maybe no more Medicaid for me.

I fucking hate -- truly fucking hate -- every moron who has ever voted for a GOP. My entire adult life (I'm 63) has unspooled against a backdrop of neoliberal economic policies that have created massive hardship for me. (For ex., I had medical debt in my 30s, so I was unable to apprach the housing ladder until I was 42 -- when the bubble pushed prices out of reach.)

Fuck this fucking country. Fuck scumP. I'm willing to believe in an afterlife if it means that he'll suffer for all eternity.

'if you were playing “Family Feud” and the topic was “Snake Oil Salesmen Who Definitely Should Not Be In Charge of Medicare And Medicaid,” he would probably be your very first choice' Nah, Rick Scott would be my first choice, but I guess Dumb Antichrist doesn't want to take more Senators out of the Republican column.

Oz wasn’t the first Dr. he could name, but Pepper wasn’t real and Dre wouldn’t return his calls.

Oh, and Hannibal Lecter is great but he’s deceased.

Ta, Robyn. He's got really dead eyes. I suppose that's the soullessness coming through. I am very concerned about the future of Medicaid. I work in a FQHC and that's how most of our patients pay. I guess it's not going to be my concern once I find a new job.

I personally find it to be a medium evil that there is any profit to health care so I damn sure think it is a right of all humans in societies that want to claim they are "civilized".

Maybe project 2025's plan is to just break all the things where government is still 'for the people' because you cannot suffer socialism to live in a corportocracy.

I knew it was "going to get worse before things get better" as my auxiliary brain kept telling me no matter who won but I guess this is the road to nowhere we're all on now. I am still pretty confident that a whole lot of red and rural 'Murica is going to start missing some of those things when they are broken though. Also don't think the red party is going to be happy taking colloidal silver till they are literally blue in the face.

The GOP will break the country, but they'll lie lie lie and blame the Dems -- and the gullible red-state rubes will believe them (despite the GOP trifecta, bc they are that dumb) -- meaning that the rubes will keep voting for GOPs.

ETA: Or, if Dems are able to regain Congress in 2026, they'll be unable to do anything bc of LDFF's big veto Sharpie.

Once upon a time, I had a serious accident. I was referred to Dr. Oz's physician daddy during my "recovery". That man was a total sociopath and sadist.

Why do I say this?

Well- After surgery I had a trach tube, and when I went to Dr Oz the elder for an exam that tube needed to be removed.

But, when he tried pull it out, it became apparent that the skin around the tube had started to adhere to the metal tube. I asked him to try gently working it out, but he was a busy man and he simply violently yanked it out.

I have a very high threshold for pain. But that pain was intense, and un-neccesary. He did not care at all!

He was visibly upset though... by the spatters of my aspirated blood on the ceiling of his exam room.

My mother was a big fan of Oz when she was in her 80's. She watched his program every day, including the last day of her life from her hospital bed. I know that even my mother, if she were here, would think his being in charge of Medicare would be a terrible idea because she was smart enough to know the difference between a TV personality and a qualified administrator.
