These fascists are turning me homocidal.

The fake forced glee, the false assumptions that everybody loves all the death and destruction, the nauseating incompetence and idiocy dressed up as virtuous patriotism.

None of this will be forgiven nor forgotten. Their bill for all the harm and horror they are sowing will come due upon them all in the most unseemly and unpleasantest of ways.

And I will gladly volunteer to help serve it.

We are heading toward toward a future where the majority of the populance will be functional illiterate and will be a bunch of brain dead sheep who will be the living version of the "Dont ask questions, consume product, get excited for next product" meme and vote Republican. The elites got to make sure they got workers and consumers after all.

Maybe somebody more conversant than I with MAGA-speak can explain what she means by “medical tyranny”?Vaccinations? School nurses cutting off peeners? Mengele-style “experiments”?

"Postsecondary education should be a path to a well-paying career aligned with workforce needs."

So... no one gets any more of that girlie, woke librul arts, gender studies, readin' and critical thinkin' stuff ... from now on, universities and trade schools are the same thing.

My SO works for a company that holds/held a LOT of Dept. of Ed contracts, so I scanned as much of this letter as I could stomach. (Clearly, McMahon was picturing swelling orchestral music while she wrote it.) I did note that while she keeps saying the phrase ~FINAL MISSION~ in big, dramatic ways, the actual details (such as they were) in the letter were things like "eliminating bloat", which is not the same thing as "officially ending the Dept". I suspect the FINAL MISSION bit was aimed at Trump (who's not gonna read past the headline), and the sort of half-assed bits were aimed at Congress.

David Jolly, the former Republican Congressman from Florida, said on MSNBC March 4, 2025 that if you wanted to destroy the US you would do what trump has done in his first 50 days:

1. Cut off services to the American people so that the government has little to do with or for them;

2. End alliances and relationships with other nations who have been our friends and supporters for years;

3. Destroy the US economy.

I would add an additional point:

4. Emasculate Congress and the court system so that they can do nothing to stop you from carrying out the destruction

I thought first of the biblical story of Sampson, destroying the temple on top of himself. Obviously that analogy is weak other than the self-destructive element.

Then I thought,

this is either the work of an insane person, or

this is the work of a totally panicked person, living in fear of being disclosed as what he is rather than what he outwardly believes himself to be. I would say that he is held in the grip of Putin and can only do what he is told to do, otherwise something will be revealed about him that will destroy him. Perhaps this puppetry is itself a form of insanity.

Why not both?

Since McMahon did the usual lying and equivocation that all the Republican confirmation hearings show, now that she's confirmed, all her Orwellian language about new rules benefitting all students is another lie. The Project 2025 goal is to end public education, by federal or state funding to only private, usually religious, schools. Then the indoctrination into right-wing ideals commences in force. All so students can become good little drones for toxic capitalist corporations. Students grounded in science and history? No. Only the Bible needs to address those subjects. And absolutely no critical thinking or media literate skills. The right-wing think tanks don't want an educated population. They want an unquestioning obedient one. This administration hates real education.

THE STUPIDEST THING about this Stupid Thing of the Day is that to maintain the same level of services will cost more!

The burden of staffing will just be transferred downstream to the states and efficiencies will be lost.
