“Had a cyst burst inside my uterus while pregnant causing a mc. The on call doc said it's best to wait a week to see if it comes out naturally. Now I can have 0 children bc my uterus is gone.”

THIS IS THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF WHAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO DO when I had mine the doctor was like "we would like to give you pills, we could give you a d&c but it won't be for days, or you can wait but we really, really, REALLY don't want you to do that."

(if any of you ever find yourself in the same situation-- I had planned to ask for the d&c but did the pills to get it over with ASAP and honestly I think it was the best solution for a fucking awful situation. Dealing with the cramping and bleeding and weekly blood tests was at least a distraction from the emotional hell, and I was able to have a successful IUI less than two months later.)

"Broeder now suffers from Afib, or atrial fibrillation, a heart condition she will have to live with for the rest of her life. She explained that if she gets too excited or upset, her heart could just stop working."

This is not how Afib works. The danger from Afib is that a clot forms in your heart and causes a stroke. It is manageable with beta blockers and mild blood thinners, and in more chronic cases, a procedure called ablation.

That said, it DOES suck to have it, and it IS life-changing.

That said medication abortions are legal in ND so providers can write the script.

My mother had rheumatoid arthritis. We don't know the cause but it is probably a combination of genetics & environment. However, regardless of the cause different environmental factors could trigger it. The cause of something and the trigger are often separate issues. A superficial awareness of English leads many of us to feel that cause and trigger have separate meanings.

Good to know that there are still a few judges, even west of the Mississippi, who are not in the Feudalist Society's pocket. North Dakota and Missouri, two of the worst red states, are not yet 100% safe for fascism, all heretofore available evidence to the contrary.

It's truly amazing what lightly moving your fingers around in a circular motion on someone's belly who has been throwing up for hours will do to calm everything down and let the sufferer drift off to much needed sleep.

Should have done that hours ago. Duly noted.

I REALLY hope Biden and the military are prepared for this.

The Next January 6 Could Happen in Places Like Springfield, Ohio

"It was all emblematic of the former president’s ability to turn whole communities upside down with just a few words. For all the ways Trump has declined of late, he remains masterful at reading and cultivating his base, which wants stories about immigrants so grotesque that their xenophobic paranoias feel not only sane but righteous. Somewhat new are the droves of conservative influencers descending on Springfield and spreading viral videos of residents calling immigrants “sand monkeys.”

It’s worth remembering that we’ve seen Trump make this play before. His lies about endemic migrant crime date back to his campaign announcement in 2015 when he characterized all Mexican immigrants as “rapists.” Ahead of both the 2018 midterms and the 2020 general election, the then-president induced panic about invading migrant caravans that abruptly disappeared from his rhetoric after votes were cast. Haiti itself has made a previous appearance on Trump’s reported list of “shithole” countries whose denizens he sought to deny immigration protections.

Trump’s brand of conspiratorial lying transformed his unfounded claims of election theft in 2020 into a rabid mob that descended on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Now, the question of whether Trump’s lies lead to actual violent behavior is no longer conjectural. And as Vance helpfully articulated, the point of the lying is to capture and channel a desired mood, a rallying cause that motivates people to action.

The Republican ticket’s exploitation of that mood has now sent hundreds of Springfield children fleeing from their schools, led to the terrorization of countless city employees, reopened the psychic wounds of a grieving father, and placed a target on the backs of a migrant minority that was already regarded with suspicion. It reaffirms that Trump’s vision for returning to power will likely require an indiscriminate range of casualties. What we saw onstage on Tuesday was not merely a meltdown but a vision of the future: an angry man howling at hordes of disciples he does not see, who await his signal to spring into action."

November 5th won't be anything like 1/6/21 when the National Guard wasn't ready for them. Lock and Load! And the good (and bad) thing will be, it'll be the responsibility of a REPUBLICAN Governor, not a Dem. However, he's one of the few GOP Gov's who isn't MAGA and will follow the Constitution. Eradicate these animals.

Hey, Intelligencer, How about writing true articles about how Trump and his followers are fucking MAGA terrorist racists, without all the implied speculation/admiration about/of his power to "exploit" his followers. How about describing Trump and Vance and all the MAGAs as the ignorant, terrifying, criminal terrorists they are. No speculation required. If you do your job, your guesses/speculations won't be necessary. Come on, let's do some real journalism.

George Will is a MASSIVE asshole so I'm kind of surprised to hear this. A few months ago I remember him saying he just could never vote for a Democrat.

I'll never forget him on Meet the Press with Paul Krugman right when the Great Recession started. Krugman looked at him and said "well, George, you got everything on your conservative wish list for the past 8 years. How did that work out for you"? Will just sat there with his jaw quivering, and didn't say anything. He usually can't be shut up.

Krugman's desk was ten feet from my mom's when he was at MIT. My mom worked for Paul Samuelson, who shared a weekly oppositional column in Newsweek with that misguided right-wing asshat Milton Friedman, who, like Will, got everything wrong. I'd love to see Krugman on Press the Meat :)
