On days like this, when we are brutally and tragically reminded that on a scale of one to super fucked, America breaks the damn meter, it's important to take a moment to also remind ourselves that there are good things in this world that make us smile.
No kittehs in our house any more (I think my housemate is afraid of them outliving HER) so instead I have been spending extra time with the ratties. I still have no idea how all-black eyes can look so bright and expressive.
I had a big ole tom who once brought me a mostly (but not entirely) dead young possum. The cat was ripped up himself but boy was he all sorts of proud, right up to the part where the vet had to lance and stick and sew.
Edit: episode from youth; I did not make him an outside cat, my dad did, because Dad was like that. Current kitty is an inside kitty, and shotted and spayed and all healthy (though wishing she could git out at those birdies all the same)
