Oh hai, Glenn Greenwald, how are you being an atrocious monstrous hellbeast today? Oh, you are the one human being on earth who doesn't think World President Barack Obama should bonk Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan on the head, tie him up in his presidential palace, and send Seal Teams Six, Seven, Eight and Thirteen to go find the Nigerian schoolgirls?
Sooo... if you get kidnapped by Islamaniacs, just hope it doesn't happen in a country that has oil ... because there can't be moral argument for the USA to come to your rescue in a place that has oil.
I'm thinking we should send all those wannabe heroes from the 1st Chairborne that are busy littering the Nevada desert at the moment. Those fuckups want to fight for freedom and liberty, how about they fight for those girls' freedom and get their sorry asses over to Nigeria to liberate them instead of mugging for Fox News and scaring the locals
I'm honestly trying to figure out why the fuck we care what Glenn thinks on this particular issue. He is respected by some segment of the populace, but is this his area of expertise? I'm seriously asking.
In the clinic I worked at back in the 1980s (back when I was still living among "people" in "civilization") one of the medical residents was a guy who have earned his medical degree at the school in Grenada. I learned from him that yes it was a real school and yes it really did train people to be doctors. He was a knowledgeable enough guy by resident standards, which meant that he didn't seem to be any more befuddled than his US-based medical school-trained colleagues were.
I didn't lie, Glenn's words are there for everyone to read. Did GG have a change of heart and evolve his opinion on Iraq eventually? Sure... I'm not a reflexive Greenwald basher like some here are, I actually agree with many of the things he says. But don't play hagiographer for him here- while some of us were tearing our hair out and shouting "WTF? This war is a serious mistake!" he was providing cover for the GWB administration just like many journalists did at the time. I'm glad he came around to realizing just how full of shit GWB was, but he still has to bear the responsibility of getting snookered just like so many others in the fourth estate did. The hypocrisy is in pretending that he never did (which in truth is more the hypocrisy of his followers who want to whitewash his initial support for the war and send it all down the memory hole, as if he's always been an isolationist libertarian, rather than having been one of many voices in the media helping Bush sell his Godforsaken war). That doesn't make him any worse than the other sorry cheerleaders like Bill Keller, Friedman, Tweety and the rest (ask Phil Donahue what happens to people who actually stood up and voiced their opposition), but it also doesn't make Glenn any better either. There's also his habit of going after others for their support for the war early on, even though many of them also evolved their opinion on it. My point is that while there is indeed a bit of piling on going on for his tweet, GG has brought much of that on himself by being a bare knuckled type unafraid to dish it out to others in similar circumstances- he's no saint by any measure, too bad if that sword cuts both ways.
I'm sorry, were you attempting to deflate my ego? "Oh, boo hoo. I'll never win a Pulitzer. I'll never be a serious writer." I'll never pitch for the Yankees or date a supermodel either, but somehow I've come to grips with that too. But you are wrong - you didn't read what I wrote. Look upthread, where I point out that GG, by his own admission couldn't even be bothered to vote or have any sort of serious political point-of-view until midway through Bush 43's second term. When you don't even bother to exercise the most fundamental and basic thing that you can do to participate in politics - vote - why should I be willing to or even care about what you espouse politically? You have the franchise, same as me. If things trouble you so or you support things so, why not pull the lever?

Sometimes you don't enjoy the peace you have . . . or the peace you would have wanted . . . uh, never mind.
You're new here, right?
Good point . . . the 300 girls can't possibly matter, because corrupt petrogovernment.
Crap - these damned Nevada militia cosplayers are everywhere.
Why would Greenwald being a self-aggrandizing douche stop me from loving Obama?
this is why twitter sucks.
bite your tongue. jude law has better fish to fry.

It's an example of Comment Section* license. We're engaging in snark here, not providing sworn depositions.
(*As we all know Wonkette doesn't allow comments. So none of this is really happening anyway.)
