In the wake of the Senate confirmation of Justice Janice Rogers Brown, the NY Times offers a profile. Here's our favorite part:
Her friends describe Justice Brown as a voracious reader, amateur poet and serious intellectual...But she also has a fondness for rock 'n' roll lyrics...rewriting Paul Simon's song "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover" as "50 Ways to Lose Your Liberty..."
See, if she were just an intellectual, rather than a "serious intellectual," she would have written, say, "Living La Vidi Liberty." Or maybe "The Thong Song (of Liberty)." In any case, it's good to know we've got such a brainiac protecting corporations against greedy, paint-slurping kids and stuff like that. — GREG BEATO
