New York magazine reports on the possible sale of "dot-com survivor" and political/cultural Cliff's Notes digest Slate. (Slate is an "on-line magazine" that was started by internet pioneer Alfred Kinsey. Or something.) Anyhow, the NYT was interested, but they decided they needed something less stodgy. Now the Washington Post Company may be looking, raising the only question media people really care about: Would anyone have to leave New York? Slate editor Jacob Weisberg refused to comment, and a Post spokesperson told New York, "I have nothing to offer," but we think he's selling D.C. short.
