In her most recent syndicated column, Susan Estrich calls Fox News the best place she ever worked. One reason? The producers there totally listen to her:
There were certainly times during the last campaign where I disagreed with decisions made by young Fox producers. But without exception, every time I raised an issue, I won. The joke was that I would tell them to set their stopwatches and transfer me to [Roger] Ailes, so they could time how long it would take me to get their decisions reversed.
For example? Estrich doesn't offer any, so we were forced to use our imagination. See the results after the jump...
Young Fox producer: Now, remember, Susan, when you guest-host for Colmes tonight, you're the liberal, so don't be afraid to mix it up with Sean a bit.
Susan Estrich: No way! I love Sean!
Young Fox producer: I know, I know. I'm just saying -- don't go into total liberal pinata mode on me, OK? It's better TV when you get a whack or two in yourself.
Susan Estrich: Excuse me! What part of "I love Sean Hannity!" don't you understand? I mean, do I have to call Roger about this?
Young Fox producer: No. Fine. Do it your way.
Next, some actual comments from Susan Estrich, during her June 4, 2004 guest host appearance on Hannity & Colmes:
Sean and I actually like each other...Welcome back to HANNITY & COLMES. I'm Susan Estrich here having fun tonight with Sean Hannity and my good friend Newt Gingrich. People don't even believe that you're friends with me...
I actually like you. I'm going to be in terrible trouble tomorrow. I like Sean Hannity. I like you. I'm dead, you know. I'm just dead...
Coming up next, you might remember the famous scream, but did you see what Howard Dean said yesterday? Sean wants to you see it, coming up next...
I go into the bathroom sometimes and people will say to me things like "Why do you work for Fox News?" And I say, "Well, are you hiring me?" Right? You know? And these liberals will attack me in the ladies room and I say, "Anybody want to hire me?"
I'm so thrilled that I don't have to defend [Dean and Gore]. I'm so thrilled that they're not the nominee...
You're watching the network America trusts for real journalism, fair and balanced.
