The Dam Has Broken! Looks Like Nancy Pelosi MIIIGHT Let Us Impeach A Motherf*cker!
Hammer time

Well shit, y'all, it's all happening, and a not a moment too soon.

Monday night, seven members of the new class of House Democrats -- all of whom come from national security backgrounds, and all of whom represent swing districts -- published a letter in the Washington Post calling for Congress to use every single tactic it has to get the truth on this Ukrainium One matter, including impeachment. This, as Joe Biden might say to the Ukrainian prosecutor investigating his son -- HA HA! WE ARE KIDDERS! THERE IS LITERALLY NO JOE BIDEN UKRAINE "SCANDAL" -- is a big fuckin' deal.

The reps in question are Gil Cisneros, Jason Crow, Chrissy Houlahan, Elaine Luria, Mikie Sherrill, Elissa Slotkin and Abigail Spanberger. To be clear, these are the exact moderate reps Nancy Pelosi has been protecting, as she has been slow-walking impeachment while more Democrats sign on to the idea.

Here's a bit of the op-ed:

The president of the United States may have used his position to pressure a foreign country into investigating a political opponent, and he sought to use U.S. taxpayer dollars as leverage to do it. He allegedly sought to use the very security assistance dollars appropriated by Congress to create stability in the world, to help root out corruption and to protect our national security interests, for his own personal gain. These allegations are stunning, both in the national security threat they pose and the potential corruption they represent. We also know that on Sept. 9, the inspector general for the intelligence community notified Congress of a "credible" and "urgent" whistleblower complaint related to national security and potentially involving these allegations. Despite federal law requiring the disclosure of this complaint to Congress, the administration has blocked its release to Congress.

This flagrant disregard for the law cannot stand. [...]

If these allegations are true, we believe these actions represent an impeachable offense. We do not arrive at this conclusion lightly, and we call on our colleagues in Congress to consider the use of all congressional authorities available to us, including the power of "inherent contempt" and impeachment hearings, to address these new allegations, find the truth and protect our national security.

In other words, if they don't impeach for this, then the law has ceased to exist.

Whether you believe all the reporting about how Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been actually lobbying against impeachment, or think that's been some very dramatic spin from Beltway journalists as they try to explain Pelosi trying with all her might not to make her new freshman swing district Dems walk the plank, the time has pretty obviously come that Pelosi is officially going to make her #VerySerious shift and say that she just hates that this is where we are as a country, she's just agonized over it, but that it's time for a full impeachment inquiry to begin in the House. (Just as we predicted! We even said we thought it would happen "around Labor Day," and three weeks after Labor Day counts.)

What we didn't know was exactly what would move Pelosi. Public opinion? The sheer number of Democratic congressmen saying NOW IT'S TIME NOW LET'S DO IT NOW? Turns out this specific Ukraine whistleblower scandal did it, and we think we know partially why.

One feature of the 2018 midterms, besides how we fuckin' won, is that the 2018 class of Democrats had a lot of former military/intel people, and some of them may have been there on impeachment privately, but they were probably telling Pelosi, "Look, we need him to do something to endanger national security that is SECOND GRADE EASY to explain to our constituents. Then we can use our serious military/intelligence backgrounds to express the gravity of the situation to our constituents, appearing as non-partisan as possible when we do so." (That Trump would at some point endanger national security in just such a way was obviously a given, considering his track record.) Last night on "The Rachel Maddow Show," Democratic Rep. Elaine Luria, who represents the "military" parts of Virginia, spoke about her letter in the Post, and several times she said the Ukraine scandal was not only egregious, but also "clear and concise."

Look, the president is extorting a new foreign country into investigating his political opponents in order to help him cheat his way into re-election! And LOL the dumb fucker just admitted it! That fits the bill quite nicely, and is indeed very "clear and concise," don't you think?

Also note how these seven House representatives jumped together. We think they needed to do that.

Pelosi is meeting with House leadership today, and has called a members only meeting at 4 p.m. ET to discuss, among other things, impeaching the motherfucker. She's also expected to release a new statement on the subject sometime today. This comes as news has been trickling out the past couple of days about how Pelosi is making her shift. Last night, the Washington Post reported that Pelosi is "sounding out" members on impeachment, and that "many leadership aides who once thought Trump's impeachment was unlikely now say they think it's almost inevitable."

And of course, all eyes are on Thursday's hearing with acting DNI Joseph Maguire, and whether or not the Trump administration will hand over the full whistleblower complaint (ALL OF IT, NOT JUST THE "BEAUTIFUL" TRANSCRIPT) by Friday. This weekend, Pelosi and Democratic leadership seemed to be sending the message that if they don't get the full complaint by then, well then, you betcha, you better not, don't make me pull this car over, just wait 'til your father gets home, OR ELSE! (The Post says Pelosi's letter was about HINT HINT impeachment.)

Another sign Beltway-watchers have noticed on the "Will Pelosi Impeach?" front is that her very close ally Rep. Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut has moved a hell of a lot closer to impeachment in her public statements these past couple of days, and pundits on the TV have noted that DeLauro wouldn't have made that move if she thought she was getting in front of Pelosi's skis.

Oh yeah, and Debbie Dingell is for it now! These are the insiders, y'all.

In other words, we are doing this. There's still a lot of process to go through, and no, the House will not be voting to impeach the motherfucker tonight, as it is now almost time for so many impeachment hearings that will be personally painful for Donald Trump, he's gonna get sick of impeachment hearings.

Let's not blow our wad early like a common Donald Trump on the phone with the Ukrainian president right after he shoved the military aid Congress approved up his own B-hole and dared Ukraine to come get it.

That would be distasteful and require a whole lot of Wet Wipes.
