The Fixer
Sherry J. McKnight has received the maximum sentence (46 months) for her role in a D.C. parking ticket "fixing" operation. Oh, like the District isn't robbing people themselves with these tickets! The judge in the case, Gladys Kessler, explained McKnight's harsh punishment with the pronouncement that "I think bribery is a cancer in the public sector," and that it "destroys the confidence of Americans" in the political system. Whatever. By all accounts, McKnight operated more efficiently than the DMV proper. . . and she didn't spy on you with those freaky red-light cameras, either.
