The Onion, America's only readable newspaper, has opened a DC branch. And whenever anyone does anything in DC, they need to throw a party or two. The first two Onion parties was held last Thursday at the Black Cat. We went, because the Black Cat is within walking distance and they were nice enough to put us on the list.

Local bands (The Sounds of) Kaleidoscope and Georgie James played, quite well. Comedian Aziz Ansari kind of told some jokes in that indie comedian "not actually really telling jokes" way. And comedy legend Neil Hamburger finished the night with his usual brilliant routine (we assume -- we did leave kinda early because sometimes we feel like old men who need their sleep).

Liz Gorman went too, and her pictures are available right here.
