Trump U Case To Move Forward Even Though Trump Would Prefer It Did Not

It looks like Donald Trump's Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Week is getting even worse, somehow! For late Tuesday afternoon, Judge Gonzalo Curiel -- who you will recall is the Mexican-American judge that Trump was pretty sure was prejudiced against him for the awesome wall he wants to build, even though all the other Hispanics love him because of his Trump Tower taco bowls -- denied his lawyer's motion for a summary judgment in the class action lawsuit against Trump University! Why? Is it because he is mad about the wall? Is it because he is in a secret society of Mexican Lawyers who want to bring ALL OF THE MEXICANS to America so they can steal their jobs?
No, it is because the judge determined that there is a definite possibility that Trump was at least involved enough with Trump University to know that it was, indeed, a giant scam.
Via LawNewz.com:
“The Court agrees with Plaintiff that the evidence in the record raises a genuine issue of material fact as to whether Defendant (Trump) participated in the operation or management of the enterprise,” Judge Curiel wrote in his order in response to Trump’s motion for summary judgement.Judge Curiel also found that there was a genuine issue of material fact as to whether Trump “knowingly participated” in the “scheme to defraud” and whether he made representations that were “false and misleading.” Trump’s attorney filed a motion to essentially get the case dismissed, stating that Trump was not integrally involved in the running of the organization, and that evidence from depositions showed that there was not enough to proceed with the case. Judge Curiel didn’t agree, finding the plaintiffs had presented sufficient evidence to survive the summary judgment motion."
You see, although Trump's lawyers are claiming that he was pretty hands-off when it came to Trump U, that is actually part of the problem, anyway. Because the advertising materials for the scheme said that Trump "hand-picked" (with his tiny hands) all of the instructors, and the fact that it turns out he did not do that is a pretty big part of why those involved in the suit are saying it was a scam! Trump also said in his deposition that he was not aware of any advertising materials for the program that bore his image that he did not approve of.
Sadly, Curiel also ruled against releasing the pretty videotapes of Trump's deposition on the grounds that giving them to the media could taint the jury pool, so we won't get to see them. Which is SAD because we were so looking forward to that part.
