Vote For Me Or You're Going Through The Plate Glass Window

BarkleyAurburn.jpgFormer N-B-A star and avid gambler Charles Barkley has switched from Republican to Democrat and is still talking about running for governor of Alabama. Maybe 2010, he says. Here are a few other things he has said.

"I really believe I was put on Earth to do more than play basketball and stockpile money."

"I was a Republican until they lost their minds."

"What I've said is I'm rich like a Republican. But I'm not one."

Of Alabama's past leadership: "If it wasn't for Arkansas and Mississippi, we'd be dead last in everything."

"The word 'conservative' means 'discriminatory,' practically. It's a form of political discrimination. What do the Republicans run on? Against gay marriage and for a war that makes no sense. A war that was based on faulty intelligence. That's all they ever talk about. That and immigration. Another discriminatory argument for political gain."

Don Siegelman, Alabama's last Democratic governor, said Barkley, "would make an excellent candidate for high office." Alabama's Democratic Party chairman Joe Turnham is totally excited, eager to invite Barkley to some party events.

Gnarls Barkley said, "Well, I think you're crazy/ I think you're crazy/ I think you're crazy/ Just like me/ My heroes had the heart to lose their lives out on a limb/ And all I remember is thinking, I want to be like them."
