Why Are Pro Golfers Republicans?
Yesterday, Nevada gubernatorial hopeful and ex-porn star Mimi Miyagi explained why so many XXX actors are Republicans. And it's not just because they're cum-guzzling whores.
Now professional golfer David Duval explains why his PGA tour mates vote GOP. And it's not just because country clubs are the last refuge to which rich white men cling.
Q: Why are all the other golfers on tour Republicans?A:... I suppose the safe guess would be because of tax issues. With Republicans in charge, the conventional wisdom is that taxes will be lower. With Democrats in office, taxes will be higher.
Q: Did you vote for John Kerry in the last presidential election?
A: I did. But I think I'm like a lot of people in the country. I am socially a Democrat, in that I want all the social programs and health care to be what they should be. But I am fiscally a Republican, because I want to pay as little as I can in taxes. My choice was, would I rather pay 38 percent or whatever it is to have a Republican in the White House? Or would I rather pay 40 or 42 percent with a Democrat as president and feel like social programs were looked after properly? My choice was, I'd rather pay more.
Given that Duval, once the No. 1 golfer in the world, made a measly $8,000 on the tour last year, taxes may not be so pressing to him these days. More here.
Incidentally, tax revenues are way, way up under Bushitler: "According to the Congressional Budget Office, in the first nine months of 2006 tax revenue have climbed by $206 billion and "that increase represents the second-highest rate of growth for that nine month period in the past 25 years."
