God-Like Mitt Romney Imparts Great Gift Of Lying To Grateful Wisconsin Poll-Watchers

Mitt Romney has a lot of skills you guys. Reading balance sheets! Being unemployed! Avoiding taxes! Running a business! Using an etch-a-sketch! Etc! But probably his BEST and most useful skillset is lying. Shamelessly lying, right in your face, and right in Candy Crowley’s face, and right in the President’s face. Is it therefore a big surprise that his campaign has been teaching poll workers how to lie? No, of course it is not. We expect this kind of crap from Mitt Romney and his campaign from now on because he is a horrible person.

Mitt Romney’s campaign has been training poll watchers in Wisconsin with highly misleading — and sometimes downright false — information about voters’ rights.

Documents from a recent Romney poll watcher training obtained by ThinkProgress contain several misleading or untrue claims about the rights of Wisconsin voters.

We will interject here to note that even the liberal media is rendered nearly impotent in the face of such tactics. Note the use of words like “misleading” and “untrue” and “false” and even “HIGHLY misleading” as opposed to simply using the word “lie.” As in: "the Romney poll watcher training obtained by ThinkProgress contains several lies about voter eligibility, most of which disproportionately impact people of color and the poor." But anyway, moving on:

One blatant falsehood occurs on page 5 of the training packet, which informed poll watchers that any “person [who] has been convicted of treason, a felony, or bribery” isn’t eligible to vote. This is not true. Once a Wisconsin voter who has been convicted of a felony completes his or her sentence, that person is once again eligible to vote…. On page 3 of the packet, Romney poll workers were instructed to hide their affiliation with the campaign and told to sign in at the polls as a “concerned citizen” instead. As Kristina Sesek, Romney’s legal counsel who just graduated from Marquette Law School last year, explained, “We’re going to have you sign in this election cycle as a ‘concerned citizen.’ We’re just trying to alleviate some of the animosity of being a Republican observer up front.”

Gosh, why would anyone object to Republican observers simply hanging around the polls, observing democracy in action? Surely they are just concerned citizens, trying to make sure that every vote counts and every vote is counted.

Now, your Wonkette does not live in a swing state so no one cares about our votes here. As a result, we are free to throw our votes away on third party candidates and the like. But Wonketeers in important states like Wisconsin, Ohio, and Florida might want to keep an eye out for concerned citizens “observing” the election process.
