Jon Stewart On Latte Salute Poutrage: 'F-ck You And All Your False Patriotism' (Video)

It is a time of war, and the executive and legislative branches aren't playing well together. Congress itself is divided -- can the president act militarily without specific congressional authorization, or must he be hamstrung by partisan squabbles? Jon Stewart addressed our current constitutional puzzle on Thursday's Daily Show:  

Now is the time for an adult conversation about how our government makes its most important decisions and functions in crisis. And to lead that discussion, I give you our national media.

And all they can talk about is Barack Obama's "latte salute" (also, it was tea).

What follows is a classic Daily Show comedy rant about the fake outrage on Fox, with Stewart calling the network on its bullshit: "Shuuuuut uuuup!" he stage whispers, "You don't really care about this! You have no principle about this. You’re just trying to score points in a game that no one else is playing."

As evidence, there's Eric Bolling's puffed up lament over Obama's "arrogance" toward the brave men and women in the military -- in the very same episode of The Five where Bolling also joked about the United Arab Emirates' first female fighter pilot, “Would that be considered boobs on the ground?"

So much for Bolling's earlier admonition to Obama to "show respect" for those who are "putting their lives on the line," eh?

So fuck you and all your false patriotism. When Bush took us to war, any criticism was shouted down as treasonous. But [when] a president you don’t like has the country poised on the same precipice, no transgression -- no matter how immaterial and ridiculous -- is too small to cite as evidence that this president isn’t as American as you are.
