MI Gym Tells Lady Bellyaching About Trans People In Locker Room To Shove It

How about a story with a happy ending? (Not that kind, you perverts!) Up in Midland, Michigan, there is an outpost of Planet Fitness, which happens to have moved into yr Wonkette's own neighborhood recently. We have heard, from people, that it's a place where everybody is welcome, and that it's not full of meatheads. So, at the Midland location, a woman named Yvette Cormier was just shocked and awed and probably had all her religious freedom stolen, because there is a trans woman who goes to the same gym, and wouldn't you know, the gym actually lets her use the locker room that corresponds with her gender identity! This was, of course, an outrage, so Ms. Cormier, like some icky people are wont to do, complained and complained, until the gym addressed her concerns by saying, "the trans woman can stay, and you get to leave, you suck, bye," canceling her membership the way Jesus would've:

"I was blocked, because a man was standing there," Cormier said. "It freaked me out because, why is a man in here?"

Cormier said an employee at the front desk told her that the individual identifies as a woman.

After taking her complaints to Planet Fitness' corporate office, Cormier said she was told that the gym was a "no judgement [ sic ] zone" and they would not tell the individual in question to stay out of the women's locker room. The person has not been identified.

That is very nice, aside from the fact that the liberal, open-minded gym does not know how to spell "judgment!" Somebody in corporate, fix that! Cormier does not like the "be nice to everybody" policy, which specifically says that trans people are cool and get to use the facilities they want. Cormier apparently made clear that she was not going to shut up about it, however, so they tore up her membership card and asked for their Planet Fitness koozie BACK.

"I feel it's kind of one sided," Cormier said about the policy. "I feel like I am the one who is being punished."

Remarkable, the way she picked up on that! It was because she was the one who was being an asshole, we think. Ms. Cormier believes that this would all be easier if there was a third bathroom, for trans people. We guess the trans men and trans woman would all have to be in there together, which is, um, boys and girls together, which is what Ms. Cormier is all worried about in the first place. We guess it does not matter, as long as she doesn't have to see it.

So, good job, Planet Fitness, for standing up for your own principles. We are sure that Ms. Cormier can go join some gym called Bigots 'n' Bros instead, where she will probably be happier, or she can just stay at home and get fat, don't care.
