Obama Stomps All Over Jesus At Easter Prayer Breakfast, Wingnuts Outraged

Oh, dear, there goes Barack Obama again, attacking all of Christendom with an unspeakable slur! A few weeks back he offended all decent Christians by saying historically accurate things about the Crusades and slavery to note that bad things are sometimes done in the name of religion, even though they violate the tenets of those religions -- clear code for "I like ISIS a whole lot!" Now he's gone and profaned the Risen Lord by slagging on all of Christendom at a post-Easter "Easter Prayer Breakfast" held Tuesday morning. Just how horrible was the slur against Christians that Obama delivered? Just take a look at this hed at Gateway Pundit, where Jim Hoft continues his desperate bid to regain his crown as Stupidest Man on the Internet:
Dear god, what did that monster say this time? Let's check the transcript:
On Easter, I do reflect on the fact that as a Christian, I am supposed to love. And I have to say that sometimes when I listen to less than loving expressions by Christians, I get concerned. But that's a topic for another day. (Laughter and applause.)Where there is injustice -- I was about to veer off... (Laughter.) I'm pulling it back. Where there is injustice we defend the oppressed. Where there is disagreement, we treat each other with compassion and respect. Where there are differences, we find strength in our common humanity, knowing that we are all children of God.
Even worse, Hoft notes, Obama "did not use the opportunity to speak out against Christian persecution in the world" -- this followed by a photo of victims of the April 2 massacre by Al-Shabaab militants at Garissa University in Kenya. In fact, he didn't even use the occasion to condemn Islam at all! Instead, Obama bashed Christians mercilessly, and in addition, praised the godless Communist Pope and suggested that Jesus was some kind of stinking liberal. Obama said he was looking forward to the upcoming visit of Pope Karl Marx, "who encourages us to seek peace, to serve the marginalized, and be good stewards of God’s creation." And then he went and quoted the Vicar of Rome, rather than delivering a good Muslim-hating sermon like he should have:
[Pope Francis] says that we should strive “to see the Lord in every excluded person who is thirsty, hungry, naked; to see the Lord present even in those who have lost their faith… imprisoned, sick, unemployed, persecuted; to see the Lord in the leper -- whether in body or soul -- who encounters discrimination.”Isn’t that how Jesus lived? Isn't that how He loved? Embracing those who were different; serving the marginalized; humbling Himself to the last. This is the example that we are called to follow -- to love Him with all our hearts and mind and soul, and to love our neighbors -- all of our neighbors -- as ourselves. As it says in the first letter of John, “Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”
Oh, sure, Obama talked a good game about treating each other "with compassion and respect," and as Tommy Christopher pointed out at The Daily Banter, his point wasn't so much to "bash Christians" as to say that
all Christians face challenges (to put it mildly) in living up to the example set by Jesus, even allowing, moments later, that “I fall short so often.”
But the wingnuts really do have an excellent point: why didn't Obama use Easter as an occasion to really follow Christ's example and call for striking down our enemies? What could be more Christian than bloody revenge?
