Because that was the whole point of the lawsuit? "Men have to go to war if there's a draft and women don't, that's unfair to men." I never said it was actually likely to happen.

Hollywood. Sheesh.

But how could it be that the FBI isn't the melting pot of happy proportional representation of all ages, genders, colors and abilities? The TV shows all make it seem that the FBI is a one big rainbow coalition...

OMG, our Cal women (basketball) just won two thrilling games that helped ensure their ticket to March Madness; I have a new laptop, my first non-used computer since 2003, so I can once again read Wonkette on a real screen; AND sweet little Mikey Cohen will sing some more this week. Who could ask for anything more? (Apart from a prison sentence for M.C.'s boss? And a national climate-change policy? And safe, legal, accessible, cheap birth control, including abortion? And, and, and...)

The way I see it is there is a big difference between a relatively peace time volunteer army and a major war where, surprisingly, there aren't enough volunteers. So a draft. In every major war, civil rights are trampled on and freedoms squashed. Sadly, women's issues might get lost in the mix. I think next time around, everyone will subject to the draft, and rightly so.

"The FBI is looking for a few good men, women, and brown people now that the number of special agent recruits has plummeted."I don't know all the reasons why this is so, but it looks like they don't know either. Of course, that won't stop me from speculating as reasons.1. The OrangeRussian Traitor at the head of govt. Too many issues to list here and I haven't eaten yet.2. Who has run Justice lately; Cornmash Sessions, Meatball, and Good-Ole-Pal-o-Buddy-Barr.3. Comey's handling of the Clinton investigation.4. A belief that govt exists to do the work of the people. That to protect and serve is a high calling. In a world of Putins, Uns, and Xis, and even more unknown, it is not a luxury if we want to survive. This is lacking with Trump and most Republicans today. 5. "I just wanted to get from behind a desk and wear a windbreaker." My Blue Heaven FBI Agent.
