Well, that district, anyway. Every state in the South now has islands of progressives centered around university towns and major cities, surrounded by rural areas which are bastions of willful ignorance. Both the urban liberals and the rural conservatives feel embattled by each other. I don't see any of that changing any time soon, which is a depressing thought, but there you have it.
