Houston, with no zoning laws, is waaaay cheap for housing. Traffic and air quality, problematic.Rust belt? Appalachia? Low-cost-of-living.

Also, not to knock Delmarva, I love it to death, and visit when I can (the beaches are great in Dec/Jan; minimal crowds!), but you couldn't pay me to live there, even if my wife was able to handle it. I'd give lots to live in the country again, but not there.

Belair-Edison isn't too bad. Herring Run has been improved a lot in the last 5 years, and I see a lot of runners, dog-walkers and general foot traffic there now. I don't know much about the houses other than that they're more the 'townhouse' style, but they certainly look solid from the outside. You're 15 minutes from Hopkins, 10 minutes or so from Good Sam, the clinic we go to is just down the road at Erdman Ave, maybe 10 minutes if the traffic is bad. The people are more or less nice, same as most places. The stretch of BelAir Rd from Herring Run down to Erdman is surprisingly interesting, although it's struggled for years; many small places that come and go, but a couple of decent ones. Downtown/Penn Sta is probably 20-30 mins, Fell's Point about the same. Lots of places to visit of all kinds, depending on what you like, within an hour or less.

I meant Belair-Edison, on the other side of Herring Run Park, but the same general area. My wife's parents live on Delmarva, so we were looking there, but I don't think that's what we need - top of our list is accessible medical care, followed by something like "friendliness" or "community spirit." The Eastern Shore sounds unwelcoming, even aside from the Trumpiness, like folks are always going to be thinking of us as Those City People. Living in tourist areas stinks.

can I ask what neighborhood y'all are in? we're going to end up in an apartment, at least until we get settled in the area, but it's good to know that folks are still making homeownership work. that's my dream (i used to carry a picture of a lawnmower in my wallet). i like belair, that area looks like heaven.

Yes, and couldn't be Republicans, as that is their current litmus test.

Thanks, this should help. I do have the two plugins I need. (DDS and normal map.) I have no problem getting my specular, diffuse and normal maps made. There is a lady who has done a series of videos on youtube, but it is hard to see the details. This should help fill in the gaps. Thanks again.

I use it for porting 3d artwork into dragon age origins. Hairstyles mostly. I do mods with my mentor. He does the mechanics and I do the character design and animation. It would be lovely to get help with a couple of issues. I had trouble with alpha channel.
