Michael Cohen doesn't care if snitches get stitches, Trump's tax cuts and trade war tanking the economy, and reporters start fighting back. Your morning news brief!
I've been wanting to see legislation enacted that does exactly that. I'd also support legally citing these yammering Sovereign Shitizens for the obscene amounts of law enforcement time they piss away with dubious legal claims. Charge the insipid idiots by the MINUTE for spewing unmitigated BULLSHIT.
Jeremy Bash was on Preet's podcast this morning. I'd call this a must listen.
Few highlights:
1) Trump's actions between the G7 and Helsinki are the culmination of Putin's efforts to break up western alliances.
2) It is most likely the nature of Putin's leverage over Trump is financial. Look at Trump as what he is: an actor playing a rich man. The people who can pull the rug out from under that charade are terrifying to him. This is the nature of the relationship. Putin's people hold Trump's loans.
2a) It is also possible the way Trump sings from Putin's songbook is as much about osmosis. He's just internalized their attitude to these things, after having been entangled with them long enough.
3) It's clear the Helsinki 'summit' was incredibly asymmetric. Trump came with very vague goals, little preparation, working on a 'relationship', possibly wanting to know what Putin had on him. Putin had very definite directions, asks.
... I would say: I find none of this news exactly, but it's extremely well laid out, and it's kinda startling, hearing it coming from here, especially.
Re that 'osmosis' thing, you might be thinking that's less alarming than, say, leverage...
I think otherwise. Because: it's not just Trump. The general identification with autocrats, kleptocrats, and authoritarianism has spread far beyond him, to a general and large group of people supporting him, and these aims in general. There's a significant following now, of this, in the west, and it's a huge problem, going forward.
Your post about holding yourself as hostage was a riff on Clevon Little's scene in Blazing Saddles. I cited the lead female role in the film.
Better a terabyte than a peeve, however. They make terrible pets!
Will you feed it and clean up after it?
Whattaya mean, 'fictional'?
Oh, gods, do I ever wish this were true.
Around here we call that 'breakfast.'
Western civilisation. Oh, well, it had a good run, and now we're back to feudal vassalage while the barons use us as arrow fodder.
And FDF in the role of Lili Von Shtupp......................
Ha! Well done!
The Spittle-flecked Crackpots are my folk/barbershop quartet cover band.
Don't worry he'll do a rip-off of it.

[giggle-giggle]
Thank you. That was delightful!
Girls just wanna have FUN-damental rights and RESPECT!
Your analogy of wingnuttery to addictive substances needs to be given serious consideration. I'm starting to see it as a mental health issue.
Going here as, y'know, misc...

... anyway, again: quite the interview.
