I knew about the turtles needing some places to rest and even get out of the water to sun, depending on species. I didn't know about them nibbling the fins of the fish! That's good info... either I'll nix the turtles completely, or perhaps a separate pond designed just for them.

My goal is to have some edible water plants too, possibly in a bog filter system.

The property I looked at today has a 1.5 acre pond behind a dam, that looked healthy to my novice eye. That wouldn't be for the Koi, though - probably has large-mouth bass and sunfish and catfish already in it though! Probably got wild turtles too...

If it looks like Millennials will become fairly solid D voters, would the Drumpf regime think about starting a war just to draft their asses and send them into a meat grinder? One is reminded of the way black units in Vietnam were given the worst missions and suffered the worst casualties.

Hell, there aren't enough warm bodies to fight the CURRENT wars.It both amuses and appalls me that The Pentagon is willing to spend billions of Your Tax Dollars on the F-35 'Lightning Lemon' but doesn't have enough pilots to actually fly them. Or, for that matter, the aircraft already in inventory.

Turtles will need somewhere to rest near the surface - violating the "no plant shelves" rule. They will nibble on the fins of the fish, too. As for spawning, the boys tend to beat up the girls so that's why our best ones are in the "Girls only" formal pond. We've only had them spawn a couple of times (which makes a mess), and the big fish eat the fry (they will eat just about anything that hits the water). The survivors are almost without exception ugly things, as Koi don't breed true. That's how the breeders came up with so many varieties. The poster below only scratches the surface.

You could just buy males, they are cheaper anyway. As for "other fish" we find the variety of color and pattern in our koi superior to any other species. Out of 27 fish, no two are alike. Beware the mosquito control folks, they like to toss mosquito fish in your pond and they breed like flies.

PS Koi will interbreed with goldfish, but the offspring is sterile like a mule.

Okay, so who is Nunes blowing over at the Times (which would make it a Nuner--hee hee). All other major news outlets, including our Very Own Wonkette, have covered Tapegate, yet its absence from the Times is conspicuous to the point of HUH? WTF! Oh, and their "BIG STORY" is yet another one of their circle-jerking articles on Trump snowflakes--who they REALLY are (still white male racists, NYT!) why they do what they do, what they eat for breakfast, their favorite sexual positions, blah blah. Is the Times pissed that Rachel discovered the tape and they didn't?
