No they were made of staves like a barrel. The Conover are big iron castings And the bed is made of laminated wood. So you can make it any length you want.
Were the columns in one piece? Damn. The Oliver had two super-heavy cast iron 4' extension when I first bought it....not sure where they went over the years.
I don't know the name of the village; only that it's near Smyrna, and even that is just family lore. What I could probably do is track down her immigration papers; that probably has the info. I did find a census tract confirming that she was born in Turkey. My mother and her sibs are all gone, so I can't go to the elders even.
You would be surprised. My stepfather left with his family after the civil war and they were goat herders from the hills. He was able to locate a birth register and other documents that had been thought long lost.
Spindles, finials, balusters and some furniture and boat parts but almost nothing over 12" in diameter. I have done some porch columns that were 10 feet long and a little over 12 for a Greek revival once.
Universal healthcare is a great idea. I pay a levy (not a tax) equal to 1.25% of my taxable income. Or not if I have private health insurance. That means I have access to a health system that will cover just about every cost involved in my care and not dictate to either me or the medical practitioners I go to how to do it or how to save them money. It lets me get on with my life without thinking that a single event or illness will put me on the street.
https://uploads.disquscdn.c... The label for the Oliver. Five speeds, switched via mechanical electronic contacts. 3 phase, 440V; I have line 3-phase in my new shop, but I previously used a generator I built. Also needs a transformer to kick it to 440, which is essentially a solid copper cube of windings that weights about 200 lbs. Any bowl turning? I'm about as average at that as spindle turning. I should take some lessons from you. I think a few pointers from somebody who actually knows what the fuck they are doing would work wonders.
That's right, you mentioned it before I have a Vega and a Conover. I am self taught as well but several thousand spindles does a lot of teaching. BTW I firmly believe if Jesus is still keeping his hand in woodworking he probably has Oliver equipment in his shop.
"The cacophonous butthurt echoing from Pennsylvania Avenue was deafening as Trump's White House sought to dull the impact of the New York Times calling Trump a grifty tax cheat. Sarah Huckabee Sanders called it a 'boring 14,000-word story.'" I used to run up against the same thing in Asset Review. Write a detailed, mulit-page analysis to prove your points and some people think it's too much, overkill, etc. Cut it short and then they tell you well, Son, you really didn't make your case here...
I did not say "Medicare for all" will not work. I said that if Medicare copays continue to place care out of financial reach for people of little means, that is a serious flaw in the system that needs to be addressed and corrected.
He had his chance in Veterans Court for one of his prior offenses but blew it off after a few weeks because he "didn't have time". Fuck this asshole. I'm not a big fan of the penal system, but he deserves some time in it.

That will give Hair Furor a chance to use his new FEMA twitter alert system to tell the entire country it's Obama, Hillary and the Dems' fault.
It seems Montana Senator Steve Daines will miss the Kavanaugh vote b/c he'll be at his daughter's wedding. https://thehill.com/homenew...
Slow-moving and implacable. They're like a horror movie come to life.

Never forget those turtles are ferocious predators! Of itsy-bitsy, teeney-weeney bugs, yes, but still ferocious!
