BLOTUS’ Covid policy was worse than targeting any specific group. It was insanity based on his pathological narcissism which compelled him to ignore a fucking global pandemic because acknowledging it was, in his eyes, a reflection on him personally that it struck “his” nation, thereby hurting his feelings. (His sensitivity is why he’s running again, now implicitly threatening the nation with a “bloodbath” if he’s not re-elected.
But I digress.
Where his response to Covid really gets disgusting is that a huge chunk of his base was cool with his literally deadly actions or lack thereof because, in their way, they’re as monstrous as he. To wit: they were cool with what he did or didn’t do because they’re so hate the government ever doing anything like doing good. Including saving lives.
"The speech also drew a swift reprisal from Republicans. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said on the Senate floor immediately after Schumer’s speech that “Israel deserves an ally that acts like one” and that foreign observers “ought to refrain from weighing in.”
Oh please, Bitch (McConnell), if you've forgotten how Trump blasted SOOOO many allies views and policies, it is definitely time to, not only step down, but Retire.
Netanyahu must be replaced or Israeli (likely) does not survive.
As someone who's been through an earthquake or two, that bar shelf/trolley setup doesn't look so much like decor as like one sodding enormous cleanup with an added five-figure denied insurance claim. Can I suggest 'museum wax' which you should be able to get at a hardware store, to fasten down at least the most precious of items in that beautiful assemblage?
Maybe Rowling, an early BDS opponent, resents it when somebody implies that the Holocaust is not the cultural property of the Jewish People. My impression is that the roots of the right-wing populist revolt had to do with the decadence of the inter-war poverty, in the style of Blue Angel. Revanchism and the ever-popular antisemitism of course was ready to hitch a ride.
"Religious" organizations should be just like anybody else, cf the "no establishment" clause. Cancelling their tax breaks because THEY AREN'T "RELIGIOUS" ENOUGH is beyond stupid.
"Local Oklahoma County Republicans have censured their Republican senator, James Lankford, for … negotiating a border bill with Democrats that got Republicans everything they have ever asked for."
Everything they ever asked for *EXCEPT*, of course, a never ending deluge of outrage over the border, which was ( not so secretly ) what they actually wanted all along.

So I just got out of my FaceTime appt with the doctor (because we’re having snowmageddon here and everything is shut down for the second day in a row) and it turns out I wasn’t supposed to stop my old meds in favor of the new ones they prescribed, I was supposed to take both. Oops. Well that was only a couple of months I guess.
Feeling kinda dumb but hopeful that changing my regimen will help.
I did the opposite a few years ago. Ended up losing 25 lbs (yay!) but almost died because I had like zero potassium left in my system. When I corrected course, most of the weight returned. I hate medicine.
I know a lot of young people who are very quick and brutal when they think they've caught someone at an injustice, and they remind me of some of the things that went on in the 60s. I cut them a lot of slack because they are at the bleeding edge of moving us forward, but they are a lot and I might point that out. What I don't do is lose my fool mind and join the other side.
Losing his way. We kind of thought he might. But he was the best choice from a less-than-stellar lineup, so he's the one we got (yes, I voted for him).
Steely Dan was just one of the bands that made the 1970s so exciting music wise. I wish I could go through a time portal to experience all the music again.
Oh god, that header gif is unlovely. Which rather fits with the whole sordid spectacle, n'est pas?
Here are some brief details on how I put the thing together:

Love it!
A limerick, as we approach St. Paddy's Day.
There once was a woman named Katie
Who who spoke in rebuttal quite hatey
She spoke as a mama
Full of overwrought drama
But never said anything weighty.
Erin go bragh
I'm still working on using "Britt snit" in an entertaining creative way, but this is neat.
On behalf of neurotic English majors everywhere, thank you for saying "St. Paddy" correctly.
As a onetime neurotic English major myself, you're welcome.
Amazing! 😂
A mere compliment to your work.
Unlovely maybe, but funny!
I thought it was gov Huckster Sanders at first but once I looked at the kitchen I KNEW.
For a moment I wondered if this was some part of A Scanner Darkly that I had forgotten.
Thematically that would seem appropriate
This gif is amazing, Martini. I actually lol’d.
Still lol'ing over here!
I still don’t like her kitchen chair -
I still don’t like her religious hair -
I would not like it in that house
Because old Katie seems like a louse.
I cannot like her here or there
I cannot like her ANYWHERE!
Convicted rapist for president 2024!!!

Right? I envy healthy people.

so was my thinking, so is ours, mine is brandon.
That mirror!!!

I live in NYC so it's probably something embarrassing.
