Remember, the guy's an actor; maybe he's a boring slob most of the time. (Doubt it, though.) He even reduced Duchess Kate to girlish giggles: https://jezebel.com/kate-mi...
Being only half Anglo, I have never had any illusions about how racist our society, at heart, really is. But I also allowed myself to believe, after Obama was elected the second time, that maybe we were on the cusp of genuinely beginning to heal those old wounds and rifts. Part of my pessimism and anger now comes from being upset at my own gullibility, and my sense of betrayal that my country has once again failed to live up to its promise.
And yeah, I can't take much more either. I truly think today may be our last chance at the Great Experiment.
Surely there is not a righteous man on earth who does good and never sins. The fact he spoke to the thinking and the complexity of the situation, and his life-long service towards equality, makes him the right candidate in my opinion to assume the mantle, if it becomes available.
In his letter, Richmond spoke of “serving alongside our country’s most historic and trailblazing civil rights leaders,” a clear nod to Clyburn, who fought for civil rights in the segregated South.
I, for one, had no idea that the racist element was so huge.I don't think I'll ever get over it. (I dunno either.)If we don't turn it around today, I don't know how much more I can take.
Disillusionment over how "progressive" Obama was or was not accounts for a lot of the nitpicking, and even for Bernie (imho).
Voted this afternoon in NYC.
