If he was, he wouldn't have immediately stopped and rendered aid to the kid. You're thinking of Chauvin and others.

"Police shouldn’t think like soldiers."And it's pretty awful that soldiers, who JOB it is to break things and kill people, are held to higher standards than LE.

I've seen numerous claims by current or former soldiers, that they were held to WAY higher standards of engagement than police. Actual soldiers, in actual warzones, facing actual enemy combatants who were constantly trying to kill them. These soldiers faced more restrictions about opening fire on ARMED ENEMY COMBATANTS, than cops face against members of communities they claim to be protecting and serving.

In short, it seems black Americans would be a LOT better off if cops DID think like soldiers.

It's against the law to discharge a firearm in public, within the city limits of Chicago.

Or at least held to the same standards. These police unions and qualified immunity HAVE to go.

I mean that if they want to be cops, fine, but you may be in danger, its part of the deal. They always default to, "I'm more important than the citizens I'm supposed to serve and protect, because thats not really why I'm a cop. I'm here to wave my gun around, and scream, and be big and bad" They have no concept of sacrifice or service, only power, entitlement, and contempt. Fuck every single one of them into the sun.

And? He dropped the gun and raised his hands and the police shot him dead.

If guns made us safe, we'd be the safest country on the planet. Funny how it's 180º the opposite, and the gunhumpers still manage not to notice.

Remember that guy in Miami a few years ago? Latinx caretaker for an autistic person. His charge was playing with a toy truck in the street, and someone called the cops, saying he had a gun. The caretaker tried telling the police it was just a toy, they told him to lie down, put his hands in the air...and they shot him. True story. Officer was acquitted of attempted manslaughter. https://www.usatoday.com/st...

Seriously though, are you implying I’m a cop or a Nazi? I clean toilets for a living and you should probably dig around in my history. I’m fully dedicated to calling a Nazi a Nazi. I’m not sure what point you are making.

Again, there’s conversation to be had, with tons of common ground to agree upon.

I’m getting trolled now too. Lol.

I shouldn’t be surprised, because it’s the internet. I just expect some amount of conversation and interest from Wonkers because I know we are an intelligent, educated, worldly bunch. Quality and standards are higher here, IMO, aside from the dick jokes. I only post on Wonkette. Nowhere else. So, it’s always a bit jarring for me. I’m a sensitive little flower.

you know what else might help these cops be less trigger happy and fearful of their safety? if everybody in america didn't have a fucking gun! a majority of people who own guns say they have them for "protection" not hunting or target practice. well if everybody buys a gun for protection, that means more guns will be out there and more people will buy guns for "protection" it's an endless cycle. I wish someone would say "if you are a black person and you bought a gun, don't tell me black lives matter, because odds are the person who will be killed by that gun is black, odds are even better that the person who is killed isn't a home invader, but a member of your family, either that or somebody in your house will be out in the world with that gun and the cops will have a reason to kill them. and if you're white and own a gun, you're saying white lives don't matter, or all lives don't matter. because even though in your fantasy you'll be the hero that kills all the bad guys and saves the beautiful girl, reality is you're statistically much more likely to be the guy who comes home to find his teenage son has killed himself with your gun." I grew up with guns, and I'm a really good shot, but at this point if you own a gun, you're an asshole.
