Reflections on the Revolution in France are what made him that. before that, he was considered extremely liberal and he got into a big old pamphlet fight with Mary Wollstonecraft about the whole thing. but his evaluation of the French Revolution and its consequences was spot on. and once you do, you can understand that we need to quit letting fascists call themselves "conservative".
