For the vast majority of MAGA true believers, it's a hopeless situation for the very simple reason that if they were vacuous enough to have fallen for his bullshit in the first place, they aren't going to be smart enough to get it now, or ever. My brother ran a public course for years, a course President Clinton played on. I was going to tell him Trump plans to take over all the public courses in DC and "redesign" them, but it wouldn't do any good, he'd defend Trump somehow.
From the moment she came on the scene, Empty Gee went out of her way to get in the left's face, gloating in her ability to get a rise out of people. When it happened, she doubled down, always with that smug smirk.
But she never got private security for herself or her family because of our responses.

I didn't feel particularly bad for any of these people, but I was pretty pissed off at the grandmother, when the mom asked her to buy formula for the baby, who could only say, "You voted for this." The baby didn't.
I keep hoping that the reality sandwiches hitting MAGA in the face result in their switching off Faux News and just maybe reading or watching some other news sources; if I had no education and my only input was from liars who lie for money, I'd have a hard time discerning fact from fiction, as well. That so many chose him from positions of bigotry, hatred, and the rest of the -isms tends to limit my empathy, though.
