"Now, I’ve been meaning to do something on this for a while now and haven’t. So, just in case you didn’t know, #RepealThe19th is a whole ass thing these days for obnoxious men and pick-me girls online. Now, there are those who are just edgelords and trolls and are probably not all that serious about anything other than getting a rise out of people, but there are a whole lot of them who are."
Exactly. AMOF -- that's exactly how MAGATism (aka fascism) came out from under the rug where America had shoved it in the 30s (remember the Bund? Did everybody miss Penny Dreadful's 2nd season with Rory Kinnear playing a very convincing American Nazi?)
"I said what I said," said 'landholder" JD Kroeger. One vote per "landholding" household?
Mr. Sir Kroeger, Landholder, it is obvious you have never lived in an "urban" area. You must not grasp that we who have learn a certain toughness there, as well as an utter contempt for pufferfish like you. Just try and get your way with this country. See how that goes. Then find out who "holds" the land after all.
The right answer to these creeps - ONE of the right answers - is, "In a Christian marriage blah blah blah ... but you, you lackwit, do not get to define what a Christian marriage is. Or what a Christian is. Or what marriage is, for that matter. To the Ku Klux Klan, Catholics are not Christians. To hard core Catholics, Mormons are probably not Christians. Junk the Constitution, deny separation of church and state, make the Ten Commandments the law of the land and Christianity the only religion that's legal in the U.S. - and within fifty years, well within, intolerant douches will be fighting to discriminate against any "Christian" denomination that isn't theirs.
After that, of course, there's the minor detail that in the same Old Testament that's the source of the Ten Commandments, there are passages that justify, no, CALL FOR, mass slaughter of dissidents, slavery, genocide, invasion and armed conquest, even human sacrifice of children if you have taken an oath to God to do that. (Judges Chapter 11.)
There's the funny thing. When I was a kid going to Sunday School and believing everything they told me there, nobody drew my attention to Judges 11. Howcum?
Redefining things is the standard method used by conservatives to try and tilt the playing field in their favor. Just watch any "christian" attempt to "debate" against science.
The people who wrote our Constitution still knew what the Thirty Years' War was: a bloodbath of Christians killing Christians. And witch trials were an even more recent memory in the 1780s and 90s. Get rid of the advances of the Eighteenth Century, and we can go right back to the Seventeenth Century. Good times!
I love that the idea of a wife or partner voting their own mind and conscience chills conservatives to their bones. It’s always about control, fear of losing control, and the insecurity they can never overcome. Vote for a better, brighter future, ladies (and men and everyone!) Or, vote for Trump to “protect” you and let RFK Jr design your healthcare plan. Now that’s bone chilling.
Not saying anything for or against RFK, why is anyone in government designing anyone's 'healthcare plan'. I'm an intelligent adult and only i know what's best for my body if i listen to it, i'll design my own.
No one who makes more than, say $250/yr should be allowed to vote, because they don’t really have skin in the game. They have money in the game sure, but that’s all replaceable. It’s the poor who have skin in the game. This is not controversial.
Let's give "one vote per landowner" and see how the Twitter boys like it in some years down the line. Because those Twitter boys are complaining about how single women are racing ahead of single men in home ownership and complaining about how women don't want to start families with emotionally broken men who can't offer anything to a woman, etc. Those woke boys on Twitter want the government to give them affirmative action as men because they can't keep up with women in a meritocracy.
Naw, because along with one vote per landowner they're going to want to roll us back to women not being able to enter into contracts by themselves, so women won't own anything -- the men in their lives will own it all.
I think millions of people in the USA are looking at repressive "religious" morons fading in the rearview mirror. The latter can't abide liberal democracy because it calls for everyone to get along with and respect one another so long as no harm is being done. You know -- basic "golden rule" stuff. That's anathema to people who are quite certain that they alone are in possession of the one divine truth that leads to salvation. If you tell them you'd like to live your life your own way, they will come after you with everything they've got. After all, "God" told them to do so, you see.
"Granted, I don’t want to listen to anyone laugh forever because that would honestly be very weird, but is that really the best he can come up with?"
No, because he is a misogynist creep & this is just a different version of how they claimed Hillary Clinton was "shrill" and "nagging".
"explaining that men should vote for the whole family and that women’s voices can be expressed through their husbands, fathers, brothers, sons or uncles who want to “protect them.”"
Wow, they are really going back to the classics, there. One of the pre-ratification "arguments" for not giving women the right to vote back in the day was that opponents claimed that when they asked women who they would vote for, they matched what their husband said, so giving them a vote wasn't necessary.
Men who think they "own" their wives (and daughters) are likely men who believe that they have a right to "own" their servants (ie slaves).
"also because Sister Souljah did nothing wrong and the whole thing was just a disingenuous way to marginalize Jesse Jackson anyway"
All of this, and thank you for saying it
The subtext of this whole thing is - Your wife/girlfriend has been faking orgasms all along. You're really not that good.
That may well be the thing they're maddest about and don't want to say it out loud

So...only landowners can vote...and assuming they only mean men...pray tell, what age does the average single male buy and own his own land/house?.
Assuming that land by itself is acceptable... Assuming single men qualify.
And a BIG take on my eyes...do they actually own it? Or just making payments on it...and the bank really owns it?
Boy, would all of that skew the voting age to elderly men...

wait wait wait.
Weren't these the same people who whined and cried about how liberal women won't date them?
But their women better not DARE vote for anyone but their guy?
ok then

[Warren Oates voice] Lighten up, Francis.

Well I believe that I should be the only one to vote, so there!
Is that EdgeLordy enough for y'all?
Wait, I meant that I would be the only MAN to vote. Ladies - do your stuff!

Church is pretty much out as they frown on you being on your phone the whole time.

Better than PAB's "Drone of Doom".
