Like Jesus You think God whispered this one into Dr. Ben Carson's ear, or did he think up such Good Christian cruelty all on his own? It's not as if the oh-so-good doctor intended to promote bullying at the campaign event in Iowa, where apparently a class of fifth graders were forced to endure him. He was trying to tell one of those parable things -- just like Jesus! -- about what an idiot he was in school, when he wasn't busy
That sort of thing always bothers me when it happens. There is no way that these kids can consent to holding these signs, and expressing this political opinion...
Sez the woman who attended her first anti-Vietnam war rally before she could walk.
Even when I was a first-grader in 1955 and everybody in class knew what the reading classes for "red birds", "blue birds" and "yellow birds" were, this would have been inexcusable.
Come to think of it, when I was in the fifth grade a PR guy from NASA came to lecture and assured us that any of us, including the girls, could grow up to be an astronaut. Fast-forward 55 years and the poor kids get Ben Carson; what a comedown.
Wouldn't want him to win the White House under any circumstances, but it would be entertaining to watch him pull the same gimmick with the House of Representatives.
When children are bullied, you can always count on at least a few adults rationalizing it, usually with some variation on "the little wimp should have been carrying a gun."
Bullying is an area where adults routinely abandon children and, more often than not, brag about it.
And that was just one moment in the debate. Stockdale being the understudy for a POTUS was almost as scary a prospect as when Sarah Palin was running for the same office.
The only explanation I have for the odd preoccupation that adults had with handwriting during my own childhood was that the Greatest [other than the racism, sexism, homophobia and warmongering] Generation was raised by the last Victorian generation and back then, "Spencerian" handwriting was quite the class distinction. Even by the 1950s, the only really important thing about your handwriting was that people could read it.

Issac Newton was a christian. A weird, weird christian...
Well, there is no actual reliable test...
Is there any value to my copy of You Can Trust the Communists (To be Communists?
So many upfists needed!
We wont be seeing a recap of these comments on Sunday.
Sure there is...
Actions speak louder than words

Ooooh! Yes! I'd pay money to see that.

Most people know of at least one hugely embarrassing photo taken in childhood. This might well be theirs in a few decades.
And that was just one moment in the debate. Stockdale being the understudy for a POTUS was almost as scary a prospect as when Sarah Palin was running for the same office.
But I'll bet Carson knows of a restaurant that serves great Hamas.

The MSM can't hear you. After hearing that question, they were too busy pointing to the man in the mirror.
