This is the endorsement I wrote of Barack Obama in the Oct. 30, 2008, issue of LA CityBeat, a small weekly Los Angeles newspaper of which I was the best editrix. As you will see, I was incredibly prescient. PRESIDENT That one. Yes. Barack Obama is a magnificent human being. He is smarter, prettier, and better-dressed than you, and he can shoot threes from way downtown. When he went to Europe and the Middle East, they treated him like he was King of the World. The king of Jordan drove him to the airport -- physically drove him, like, behind the wheel of his kingmobile -- himself. People could not get enough of the Good Time Happy Face Reunion World Tour. This is, in fact, a good thing. See, there used to be a time when people loved us -- people besides Pinochet and Yakov Smirnoff. That could happen again. What a country!
NO! Nope, negative, never again. There is no longer any such thing as a rational Republican, they were purged years ago. No more hiring of Republicans in the spirit of bipartisanship. FUCK. THEM!
While I am definitely with her, well, I think of President Joe and get a little wistful. I mean that man can bring it, AND I think we would not be clutching our pearls over poll numbers right now.
She’ll have a hell of a fight on her hands getting anything done with her stupid Congress, that has not yet realized its constant obstruction is a bug, not a feature.
Big problem, bigly. Not surprisingly, last time Congress was useful was when...there was no South in Congress, from 1860 to 1864. According to Louis Menand in The Metaphysical Club: https://uploads.disquscdn.c...
I remember that when she went out on a speaking tour after the healthcare commission had gone public with its ideas, she was so hated that the Secret Service made her wear a bulletproof vest.
And she did. She didn't say "oh, then I'll stay home where it's safe." She didn't blink. She put the vest on and did her tour and looked those spitting, screaming assholes in the eye and fucking OWNED it.
I think Hillary is a great person but if Joe had run Trump would have simply run off and chances are we'd be looking forward to a liberal senate and SCOTUS. Oh well, the crap the right has thrown at Hillary isn't her fault, she's done good things all her life. The fact that the television media is in business to sell advertisements instead of keeping us informed ain't her fault either. Maybe in 2018 the progressive turnout will be strong and she can have two years with a reasonable congress instead of the obstructionist sheistkopts she'll have to deal with till libs wake up and vote in the midterms.
It's very close and the Applegate campaign is doing some of the only GOTV I have ever seen from a D in this district. I still think it's 50/50 but we can hope that the turnout and the R dislike of Trump around here helps our side. Applegate has been making a lot of overtures to moderates here.
Great Teddy quote atop the NYT elections section today, one I hadn't heard: "A vote is like a rifle: its usefulness depends upon the character of the user."
The end
As in frightened, or turned to stone?Where IS Medusa when we need her?

I like cake.
Midnight, CST and it looks like Trump has it. Sorry.
And we need to think about how to do it better, also too...
We did OK back in the 60's. But then they hit us with Kent State. No doubt they will do it again, now.
The King of Jordan drove Obama to the airport
That became so trendy than now every taxi driver in America looks like the king of Jordan.

Don't forget "get a life." That's always productive. And by "productive", I mean "stupid and senseless."

Must parse carefully. "A and B" =/= "A or B."
