Well, I am a Christian and I am mostly liberal. Frankly, I think that most conservatives have used the message of the Bible and Christianity as nothing more than their own personal political platform or as bludgeon to attack groups they don't like.
My mother was an ordained Christian minister before she retired with health problems. I spent two years living in a tiny little one bedroom apartment in the seminary school. I've been without a church of my own for years, but I still can't shake this one little mustard seed of faith that someone is watching over us, and hears our prayers, no matter how ridiculous it is. I find Jesus' teachings most accurately represented by the Democrats, who are willing to go above and beyond to serve "the least of these", as He would have done. And I also support throwing the money changers out of the goddamn temple. Just what the fuck do you think Trump is? Hope you think about that for a bit. Maybe you'll find it very interesting.
At this point in time the Republican party is certainly not conservative and most of their current values are not very Christian. A majority of US citizens are Christian, yet a minority is Republican so obviously it doesn't work the way you think it does.
What do conservatives want to conserve? Only thing I know is they want to conserve all their money by not having to pay any taxes for the common good or to help others. So more like anti-Christian values are conservative values.
I'm not a marxist, why the hell should I explain what they do or pretend to be (all 1,400 of them left in the world). I don't care what anyone claims to be, I only call out what their policies are.
