I was lucky enough to be part of a small enough force that the public servant mentality prevailed for the most part. But when the militarization attitude started in, combined with the trauma of my first ex wife (The FBI agent) sleeping with my partner, I'd pretty much soured on the whole thing.
But in the course of things I'd managed to help people who needed it most, and kept my honor.
I know the feeling. When asked to join the newly-forming SWAT team, I said that I got playing Army Man out of my system by age 12. Nothing the brass hates more than an independent thinker. I take some flak from people on these sites whose cop experiences are from TV or getting busted. Sometimes I get through to them, and explain that cops are people, and making negative sweeping generalizations is = racism. I tried that today with a deep thinker named "M" today, and actually got blocked for only the second time in 3 years of non-commenting.
All I did was suggest he change "M" to "Q". Sorry about your wife and partner, that's a double betrayal.
I laugh about it today. They deserve each other. Old cop joke: Q: What does a K9 cop say when he catches his wife in bed with his partner?A: "Bad Dog! Bad, Bad, Dog!"
You know, it's a good thing that black guy who disarmed a crazed shooter in the Waffle House a awhile back did so without using a gun, or he'd be dead, too.
If the family can't get criminal justice, I pray that they can at least bankrupt that town with their civil suit. Maybe if a few more local governments face $100 Million Dollar judgments they will finally increase the budget for screening and training police officers.
I will again mention that in standard police training across the US, the number of 'training scenarios' in which a gun is drawn by a perp and aimed/fired at officers is more than 500 TIMES HIGHER than the 'real' occurrences in society where a perp shoots at a cop. We are literally TRAINING THEM to expect being shot at!!!
Just in case people think I finally popped a hemisphere- have a picture. Now imagine that head drunk-vomiting kalashnikovs, and that proto mankini being subject to certain... forces.
Yes, Black Live Matter and also yes, Not To Everyone-which is kind of the point.
The underlying message of the continued slayings of black people is that cops just don't care. And that they seem to be killing blacks for sport and/or as a legal method of ridding their world of those that they do not care to be around.Once is an accident, twice is an emerging pattern and we are so far beyond that. Cops can pull the trigger on blacks without blinking but somehow can refrain with whites. So in that split second when their lives are supposedly in danger, they make a decision and the data proves that its race oriented.
Ultimately, the indifference by the police is the proof. If the situation were reversed or even if bad cops constantly killed whites that otherwise could've been arrested without death by gun, the white cops would be crying out for justice and equality.
These stories are like Mad Libs in Hell. I am so sorry that another family (and community at large) is suffering such a loss, and that even if "justice" is served, it cannot bring their dear one back to life.

Tots and pears.
In Republican minds, they are getting the exact outcomes that they pay for, so why pay a red cent more.
You know, all I really want for Christmas is for the police to STOP FUCKING SHOOTING BLACK PEOPLE.
Ouch. The truth is painful....
What terrible disrespect to the flag!

Yup.No more of the taxpayers bailing these assholes out.
I have had that happen, as well, and have not found a remedy for it. :(
To snowflakes it is, like heat lets say : )
