Predators don't pose a serious threat to wildlife management, you idiot. Meddling humans and their hamfisted attempts to do what mother nature does far better is the real threat to wildlife management. These clowns just hate wolves because apex predators interfere with their commercial hunting "dude ranch" operations. They make bank flying rich bros from the lower 48 in to their "hunting lodges", where they dress up in their new LL Bean outfits and basically shoot ungulates from the back porch of the lodge. A healthy predator/prey balance means there might not be an over abundance of moose or elk to shoot without those tech bro douches having to get off their asses and go looking for them. Rich dude not getting an easy kill is bad for business, so the apex predators have to go.

The moocher commercial livestock operations are the other real problem, grazing their stock on public lands for next to no money. Yet they still expect the government to sanitize our national parks for them and wipe out any possible threats to their stock. Never mind that wolf predation accounts for a measly three percent of cattle loss (cows falling down ravines is about sixty percent of losses, followed by stomach ailments), never mind that they get compensated for confirmed wolf kills and that groups like Defenders of Wildlife also offer training for non lethal predator control- they simply hate wolves, big cats, prairie dogs, anything whose very existence might take a dime out of their pockets. And they feel that they're entitled to wipe entire species off the face of the earth, including from public land, rather than have to put in the effort to coexist with these species.

I think you pretty much said it all, Zippy. Don Young has been an embarrassment (not to mention ol' Sarah) forever. Unfortunately, all those rednecks who came up to mine the oil keep putting these fools back into office. Now we have a carpetbagger from Ohio to help Lisa screw things up in the Senate.

That is actually the step after the next step. They have to legalize hunting homeless people for sport before rich, lazy people can get bored with all the walking and request helicopters.

I can't figure out who I feel the most sympathy for in this post: the wolves, the homeless, or the people of Alaska.

Yes! Sometimes I want Gwen Ifill to turn to a guest and say something along the lines of: "that was the most stupid/hateful/racist/ignorant stream of bullshit spew that I have been forced to listen to in my 25 years of broadcast journalism. You, sir/madam should have your head on a pike in the marketplace."

How does he know the wolves would eat the homeless and not, say, fatmouth jerkoffs with putrid senses of humor?

It's a cold hate.

The people of Alaska elected this ass, so no sympathy for them.

This is Alaska. Can't they solve it like Sarah did with the wolves? You know, have Sarah hunt them from a helicopter?

I really need to read the comments before I write anything. You beat me by most the morning.

There is no real documented case of a wolf killing and/or eating a human in the USA. Ever. There are too many cases of the unhinged or pathologically evil people becoming elected officials in the USA. Many many.Aren't we getting a tad too monsterous even for us?

That's what Jesus would want. Feed the flock to the pack and all.........

Actually there was one out in Western Alaska within the last few years when a pack killed a woman out jogging. Only one I know of though.

With Don Young it only gets worse when you look deeper. http://bob-ferris.blogspot....

You know how the NRA is always promoting those 'good guys with guns' as the solution to the bad guys with guns? Don Young is an NRA board member.

Personally, I don't see anyone who advocates for the homeless to be killed and eaten by wolves as a good guy who has the mature judgement to be trusted around lethal weapons, or any pointy object more dangerous than the corners on a graham cracker -- preferably after being dunked in milk.

I suppose we should be grateful that he hasn't suggested directly hunting the homeless and using licenses to do so as a source of revenue.

Wouldn't it be lovely if someone called his office for a position statement on that?

Couldn't you just sell the wolves some meth and then send them at the homeless? It is New Mexico after all :written from a bullet hole ridden Pontiac Azteck:
