The upside is that she'll have incredibly dedicated and focused mid and lower level staff. The downside is that she may have trouble staffing her higher level jobs. She may not be able to get the "best" - previously high paid - staffers for those positions, but those jobs are very desirable, so she should be someone who can do the job well for a lower salary. Thinking about what our executives get paid and the work they do, replacing them with any one of our qualified directors and redistributing the money to line staff would make a whole lot of sense.
If everybody only ever hires the "best," then people as good or better might not get a chance. Also, you can't discount the value to genuine progressives of sleeping well at night -- knowing they're not contributing to income inequality. After all, that $30000 difference between the highest and lowest staffers' pay is DOUBLE my annual income.
THIS! THIS! Why does no one ever do this? Besides which, AOC is not "redistributing" income in any real sense, let alone in any kind of socialist way. She is allocating an entirely discretionary budget as she sees fit -- just like any other capitalist.
Ivanka Trump: "I don't think Americans want to be given anything, they want to work for it."
Excellent point! This is why any estate over $5 million needs to be taxed at 100%. Glad you brought it up, Ivanka. I'm sure you and Eric, and Dotard Jr. will all appreciate having to get out there and work. Well, not you, because you've got a rich husband, but D.T. Jr. will certainly appreciate getting out there and making money off the sweat of his brow.
As a fiber-arts person, WTF?
Well, that is closer to the truth.
Pete forgot the Marxism! And the Botulism! ALL. OF. THE. ISMS!!11!!111!

I read cyberpunk because it is awesome. Except, nowhere near enough of it around.

It'll trickle down any day now.
the kid in the red top looks like she needs a rescue from hell
I feel like somebody tried to do something like this with Bill O'Reilly once and he just pulled off his lav mike and walked out of the interview.

I thought it was "they pretend to pay us, and we pretend to work"
Oh, absolutely.
