With Halloween approaching, I thought I'd go to the Maine coast and record myself reciting a poem about a ghost ship called the Dash. It would be most fitting to record the video in Freeport, because that's where the Dash sailed from. However, it would be much easier and faster to go to Belfast. And it's not like people from away will know the difference.
Assistant has now left in a huff because she learned that I don't really look at her meticulously detailed timecard. I told the bookkeeper several years ago that unless she works overtime, she gets paid for 40 hours a week. She turns in timecards showing 39.875 hours, or whatever, and I just don't care. I don't know why this would be upsetting, but here we are.
That might be part of it. Lawyers bill to the minute, so their staff often have to account for every minute too. Many law firm associates even keep stopwatches on their desk, and if you pop in for a word they hit the pause button like a chess player.
While head down in my iPad playing solitaire and listening to the news on TV, I heard the newscaster say that “Congress authorized $20M for body cams on ISIS agents.” Yeah, good luck with that!

So, Boeing just got the Navy fighter contract to go with the Air Force contract for the next generation of fighters.
There is some informed speculation that they may end up being the same plane, because the Air Force version is quite possibly the same version Boeing pitched the Navy a bit before the Air Force started it's bidding process.
I got a new phone, and of course I fail to get through the hoops of setting it up and transferring the data, and so I go over to the bad part of town, where the nearest T-Mobile store is. And they help me, and it works, it just takes a long time because I have gigabytes of data on the old phone. While I'm there, a woman comes in with two smol kids, one maybe 4 and the other 5-6? Anyway, the 4-year-old is coughing continually. I did hear her tell him to cover his mouth when he coughs, which is nice I guess. But then of course he had his germy hands all over the devices on display. I hope I did not come home with a new phone and a cold.
Everybody thinks I'm in trial, so nobody has come in to the office all day and I think the phone rang twice this morning. My assistant has been pestering me about going home early for about an hour, and I'm ignoring her just to torment her. (Don't worry; I'll let her leave in a minute or two so she can get to the school before the kids get out.) Maybe I'll leave and go fishing for the rest of the day.
