I missed this last week while on a stretch of night shifts. Weapons-grade funny, this is.

The Secretary of Defense was out campaigning for some Repub candidate instead of attending to the sailors starving on the Abraham Lincoln and Captain Bone Spurs said they haven't been out to sea long enough.

They both eat feces.

"Neckbeard, toejam! I want you two turds to clean the head. I want that head so squared away and photo-friendly that the Virgin Mary herself would be proud to walk in there and shave her c...chonch.

I feel mildly assaulted by this article.

Well, the old Gunny is dead, which might have taken some of the hard bark off his schoolin'.

Personal appearance is very important to Pete; you can tell by his frosted tips and the suit tailored to accentuate his moobs.

Whenever I hear "Secretary Pete", I instinctively think of Pete Bootyjag, the intelligent, competent, ethical veteran. The contrast unreal.

WTAF? Fill out a shaving report weekly? I hope to hell that not a damn one of them do it. This isn’t a priority when you’re in the military. Good grooming yes but not a babysitter to make sure your troops do it.

I saw a video the other the other day how in Vietnam the U.S. troops would shave and apply after shave and shower before going out on patrols.

The Australians, on the other hand, wouldn't shower or shave for weeks. When they went out they smelled worse than a rented water buffalo left overnight in the rice paddy, and that's the way they goddamn liked it.

It also helped them live. The Australian veteran was saying that the smell of shaving lotions and shampoo and soap could be detected for a couple of hundred yards by people who are attuned to it and acquainted with the natural odors of their environment. ... Which meant they would know the Americans were there by scent before they could hear them in many instances.

The Aussies also had a very conservative way of moving; they would take a few steps, then stop and listen for a couple of minutes before moving again.

In one of the lieutenant's accounts I read about Vietnam, he said that an Australian ranger showed some of his men his collection of ears on a string that he'd taken as souvenirs. He had some trouble afterward with some of his guys wanting to start their own collections.

Like, yeah, you'd like to get captured by the North Vietnamese with a bunch of ears you'd taken as souvenirs That would ensure extra special treatment in captivity for sure.

This is my waiver, this is my gun

This is for shaving, this is for fun

Do you shave your "gun", because I think that's weird.

You know who else (allegedly!) had a beard?

That's right, Jesus F. Christ hisownself!

Ronald Reagan. (First wife agreed not to disclose why she divorced him. Second wife, an thespian like himself, Ronnie called "Mommy.")

The prince of immaculately trimmed facial hair: Adolph Hitler. Goering and Goebbels also had great beards - oh, what? Oh dear. Never mind...

I wonder if Hegseth will eventually stop obsessing over Fox News talking-point shit long enough to pay attention to things like stocks of supplies and ammunition for an armed force engaged in a war.

You know -- his job.

We have to cut him some slack. The very first thing the Iranians did after we attacked them was destroy the naval base that would have handled the fleet's resupply.

How could he have possibly foreseen something like that?

Spleen Victoria's avatar

Especially since many Iranian men do not shave! How can they warfight then??!?

There was talk out there earlier this year, they want to bring back the military draft in December 2026. Males 18-35, and personnel who could be in support (medical, various other forms), regardless of sex. It got some press attention and then it disappeared from the news. Of course, that's scheduled for after the midterms, if they do it at all.

Also, pay attention to this regime insisting that there be election "observers" at more than 1,000 polling places in November. I think they're going for a "rigged election" layup...

Daniel O'Riordan's avatar

The moment a federal agent starts interfering in a polling site, people need to call the police. This is their bailiwick.

PuraVida's avatar

I will never live in a state that requires in person voting.

Bitter Scribe's avatar

They'll never bring back the draft. Not unless they want to be run out of Washington with pitchforks.

The "election observers" scenario is, ominously, much more plausible.

I Stedman's avatar

They'll get a lot more volunteers for 'let's kick people who can't kick back' than for 'let's shoot people who can, and will, shoot back'.

SNL should tap Vincent D’Onofrio to do the “Kingpin mangles the guy in the car door” scene from Daredevil, except he plays the dad of a soldier on the USS Lincoln and smashes the door on Gunnery Sergeant Hogsweat’s balls.

Trumps pans to re-design aircraft carriers include a return to steam-powered catapults and moving the command center tower toward the middle of the vessel. Hegseth is begging him to add modern hair salons so all sailors can be given the same gorgeous hair style he has and it can be properly maintained as they go into battle. Next up are similar changes in the Army including MAHS: Mobile Army Hair Salons.
