Mr. Pook and I have been observing Mohammedan rules for quite the while now. This has nothing to do with Islam, as we find not-observing Catholicism and Judaism serves most of our religious needs. However, according to a folk tale, once Mohammed was called to prayer, and he had a kitten sleeping on his richly embroidered sleeve. Rather than disturb the sleeping kitten, he cut the sleeve off his garment so he could go to pray. Our rule is whoever has a sleeping cat is exempt from getting up to get the drinks, snacks, find the phone, answer the door, etc. Of course, if we both have cats on us, we prioritize the cats by virtue of seniority.

Why can't we have the freedom to choose to not be subjugated by a religion that will put us in hell for doing so?

I suppose that if we won't be damned, that making us suffer for non-compliance while we are alive is all the more important.
