We had Duck and Cover drills, kids now have active shooter drills. I can't say which was more psycholigically damaging, but we never had a nuclear war while mass casualty events in schools happen multiple times a year in this country.

Some bully at school frightened the poor young man and so he brought the gun to school to protect all the other kids and things got out of hand when the other students took it the wrong way. This is all breaking news but the charges for the 15 year old shooter are in the link. I am interested in what his parents, especially the father who purchased the gun used, will be charged with as well.
Thanks. Shelter in place exercises were the worst. But at least my kids behaved themselves because I told them my story beforehand. And when I showed my US history class Bowling for Columbine I let them know I'd be leaving the room for the footage from the shooting.

The video of kids escaping a classroom through a window is absolutely sickening and disgraceful.
What led to the shooting was that an unhinged teenager had easy access to a killing machine.
