For a guy who "never intended to harm his son and deeply regrets the unintentional injury," Minnesota Vikings sportsball player guy Adrian Peterson sure has some poor dumb unintentional luck. It seems beating up his various four-year-old sons and causing serious injury somehow just keeps happening to poor unfortunate Peterson.
Whipping children with switches is not a racial thing. It could be a southern thing. My white parents whipped us with switches 50 years ago, when a belt wasn't available. Mostly it is a low-class, ignorant, inexcusable thing done by people who should not have children. I don't care what happened to you as a child. There is no excuse for whipping a child.

I understand that it is purely sadistic. Not only did the kid have a few additional minutes to contemplate what was coming his way, but there was usually the threat that if the chosen switch broke in the act of beating, the father would cut another switch and beat the child further for choosing an inadequate switch.
