I was born in the early 60's so I know what you mean.

A big fad when I was just a toddler was suede Davy Crockett jackets, because of the 1950's TV show. Long fringe underneath both sleeves and in a V down the front and back and on the bottom. Every little boy had one. My older brother had one. And then the Daniel Boone TV show in the 60's recreated it, and every little boy had one. So they don't appeal to me now at all.

Yes! exactly I felt like a country music singer impersonator. Your vest sounds lovely. That is a bummer.

I can take it or leave it. It came with the kaftan and it didn't bother me until it drew blood. But I can understand how you felt about your jacket. It sounds too Elvis or Dan'l Boone for my taste too.

I was a teenager in the late 60's and early 70's, and fringe was "in". I had a gorgeous suede bolero vest with long fringe down to my knees, very HIP. As I was very tall and slim, it looked very good on me. Got it for $10 on a clearance sale, I was surprised my mother let me buy it. I wore it to school ONCE, whereupon I discovered that fringe down to your knees is very difficult to manage at school desks. However, it is very cool when you are dancing, as it swirls around you. Twenty-five years later I lent it to a niece to wear to a "60's Night" at her high school, and I never got it back, which really annoys me, as it would now be a very valuable vintage item.

I am not a fan of fringe. I had a lovely white leather jacket with a fringe that was a present from an ex. It was too country music fan, for me. I enjoyed trimming it off.

You can buy small bottles of paint with glitter already in it. I bought some to highlight the outlines of an India print fabric I was turning into a Gypsy skirt, the kind of fabric that has little tiny mirrors sewn into it. Had to lock younger cat up in the bedroom during this operation until the paint dried as she found the glittery sparkles of the tiny paintbrush irresistible.

There is also tape with gold coins already sewn onto it, good for sewing onto the hem of a gypsy skirt. Do not attempt this operation unless the cat is secured in another room.

Sounds like a beautiful dress.

There is also the issue of fringe. I have a beautiful African kaftan with fringe at the bottom. Younger cat CANNOT resist attacking fringe. I had to cut all the fringe off or risk a trip to the E.R. every time I wore it.

Can not be too careful. Minnie the Cat once took a liking to a niece's refrigerator art. Glitter was present in large quantity. It was the glitter box for a couple days after.Minnie is also partial to book bindings of a certain age

You are wise in the ways of glitter, and cats. I once bought a dress with tiger stripes of glitter on a black background. The glitter turned up everywhere weeks later.

What does that mean? There are at least half a dozen different reasons why people are obese, maybe a dozen reasons. Not all of them have to do with personal willpower or over-eating, so I don't understand your statement as you seem to be lumping them all into one thing.

Glitter is indeed fabulous, but it is best to put the cats in the bedroom and close the door before using it, and then vacuum carefully before letting them out. They will object loudly, but it is good for cats to OCCASIONALLY not get their own way. Once a year is advisable.

I remember being too young to understand the Anita Hill hearings. My little kid intuition was spot on, though. I asked my parents why all those men were being mean to the nice lady. Is the nice lady in trouble? Why are they being mean if she's not the one in trouble? Kids know bullshit when they smell it.
