The other option for them is to have their unions fund dark money groups to run lots of tv ads slamming "the politicians" until the cities and counties back off from the mandates. Speaking hypothetically of course.

Does this mean I can refuse to lower my window if I get pulled over, especially by a maskless cop?

Not just fewer cops generally, literally the ones least concerned with public safety. It's such a perfect test to weed out the stupid, selfish MAGA-y ones.

It would free up a table at Starbucks.

Our Staties here in MA lost their whiny-ass titty baby lawsuit about vaccine mandates. A couple weeks later, the corrections officers union filed a similarly situated lawsuit.

None of this computes in my brain. If you're dealing with the public day-to-day, or even worse, trapped inside a jail or prison with hundreds of other people, why would you resist getting vaxxed?

Unfortunately, there's really only the one answer. Our LEO community is indeed filled with MAGAts.

It's not the vaxxed part (i don't think)..it's something something..Biden...something..anti government

Good name!

I'm not advocating for anti-vaxxers (I have all my shots like a good little girl), but not all public service is public-facing. Still, I cheered when the Prez required us all to get vaccinated.

Let them go. If crime skyrockets out of control, hire them back. If enough are alive.

The Venn diagram of cops who refuse to get vaccinated and the cops who are violent bigots is probably a circle. Sometimes the trash takes itself out.

The Chicago FOP President Asshole is saying that if our cops are forced to get vaccinated or get fired, we'll see a 50% reduction in force on our streets. I'm like, A) they can't seem to protect our population with a full force, since we've had 500+ murders this year, and B) if they can't protect and serve by protecting the public health, perhaps they're in the wrong line of work anyway. Fuck 'em. Rebuild from scratch. Assuming Lori doesn't just fold, which I assume she will.

Delta Airlines is requiring employees to get vaxxed and they seem to still be in business. Just saying.

Fine. Walk and know you ain't getting the pension or whatever since you voluntarily quit. No more juicy OT or side gigs becuase they'll want the people with actual authority and access.

Can you imagine employees going "you can't demand we wash our hands or not sell your personal data. If we quit, the staff loss is YOUR fault!!!" being an effective threat? That kind of shitty employee needs to get gone and they're offering to escort themselves out.

Great. Let 'em quit. It only takes about six weeks of community college to get a law enforcement degree for police/sheriff's work. Put out the call for minorities and women. Quit worrying about hiring Spec Ops wannabes and bored, post-service 'war fighters.' You'd get a real police force, rather than fat guys with a combat boner.

(Takes a LOT more to become a federal LEO. Even Park Service rangers have to go through the much more intensive/selective Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. "Cops" don't.)

No - vaccine hesitancy is NOT work burnout. It contributes to it but is not the same thing in the slightest.

They are actively resisting being told what to do by an authority figure while demanding we all obey them completely as authority figures. Most other industries are complying so it's very interesting the ones we're seeing heavy resistance in are the ones who traditionally think of themselves as the ones to give orders to the public: police, military and medicine.
