I read that study about women on birth control. What's interesting that none of the Wingnutosphere seems to be talking about is the rest of it. According to the study, yes, women not on birth control do seem to be attracted to the kind of non-nurturing, ultra-testosterone beefy Chad-esque Alpha Male(TM) they, the Hysterical Right, thinks women should be. HOWEVER, upon getting pregnant by these heroes of masculinity, where their hormones start elevating naturally , women suddenly stop being attracted to them, and then start going for the more nurturing type. The betas of the male world, if you will. The ones who think women should vote and have jobs and may even *gasp* do the dishes without being asked to. Why? Because Right Wing Approved Alpha Males are terrible partners, and what pregnant & nursing mothers really need is a supporter, not an overgrown baby demanding attention and waiting on.

I'm intrigued how IVF creates "ethical and health risks that the BABY is forced to bear" (emphasis mine.) Are the sins of the unused embryos visited on the child? Do they not understand that IVF usually involves a lot of genetic screening?
Getting pregnant at 40 definitely caused some heath risks for me (preeclampsia and post-partum preeclampsia are pretty fucking awful) but my kiddo was fine through all of it.
The obsession on the right as to how and when a female has a child may come down to how many of them learned as young children, about sex and reproduction-from watching farm animals, who the farmer owned and controlled. It’s not a conscious way of thinking, but a deeply ingrained belief about control and ownership of domesticated females of any species, backed up by bible. Our modern ways of thinking and living outside of the agriculture world is only at best been evolving since the Industrial Revolution, but the ancient belief systems remain deep in the minds of far too many and especially those who are still involved directly in animal agriculture.
Just yesterday I listened to Hysteria Media's This Fucking Guy podcast and the whole freezing eggs thing came up for discussion. It was pointed out that the procedure is no joke and involves a lot of very long needles, so it is not for the faint of heart, nor is it a thing to undertake lightly. It is not just a way to pass the idle hour, it takes guts and commitment.
Whatever AOC wants to do is none of my fucking business but I wish her well in all her endeavors. And fuck all those puritanical wingnuts.

She made the point that freezing your eggs is a procedure, or series of procedures, that involves a lot of very long needles, so it is not an idle pastime but a serious undertaking involving no little pain. Not quite the same as a day in the park.
As for the wingnuts throwing a wingding over it, well, nothing she does or refrains from doing does not provoke their losing their shit. They go into paroxysms at the mere mention of her name, so what else is new? They are like the tedious sort of dog who barks at EVERYTHING, on and on. My neighbor to the East has a little yapping ratdog that goes nuts multiple times each day, and how they live with it passeth my understanding. It practically has an aneurysm whenever I go out to my own back yard.
