That's oversimplified.. You can have problems with the black lives matter movement while still supporting black politicians. It's not cut and dry/ one or the other.

I feel like I just watched all these "ripped from the headlines" episodes of SVU.

Thanks Robyn. Good point. Bad things tend to roll out in real time must faster than anyone imagines, like:

January 30, 1933: Adolf Hitler appointed Chancellor of Germany by President Von Hindenburg.

March 22, 1933: The first official Nazi concentration camp opens in Dachau.

Everything having to do with Trump and MAGA has been that way.

How long will this 'masculinity crisis' last? Apparently for as long as the human species exists, which is becoming more questionable every day. Mother Nature does not consider humans to be a special species in any way and will make us extinct just as calmly as we have made so many other species extinct.

This is what you get on the right- I have a niece (daughter of my Repub brother) who told me a few years ago that she's not a feminist. "Because I don't believe in people getting stuff they haven't earned." To be clear, this young lady (she's would have been about 24 at the time) is kick ass and won't take shit from anyone. She just has no idea of history, of what women's legal rights were (or weren't) back in the day. And I don't think she'll ever learn any of this and will continue to think that women who talk about it are just trying to game the system. It's heart-breaking.

I always wanted to do a parody called ‘Girls Gone Mild,’ featuring women with glasses, and wearing conservative attire in libraries.

I was once looking for a book in the stacks at a public library and got grabbed from behind by a young man I hadn't even noticed. He grabbed my breasts and did a moment's grinding before fleeing like a craven mouse. I think he was more frightened than I was and certainly far less angry. No matter how women dress or behave, some men decide that "we're just asking for it." No, guys, we aren't. I just wanted a book.

I stopped reading at “masculinity crisis.”

Which you put in quotation marks.

To mock it.

As if men don’t have real problems and everything that bothers us is some concoction whipped up because our privilege is being threatened.

You’re the problem.

Get over yourself.

LoL, you didn't stop reading, you never even started.

Really, the worst thing about being a man in this day and age is getting lumped together with assholes like you. Get your shit together, man. It's embarrassing.

Not a “gurl.”

You’ve proven the level.

You have zero intelligence so you respond with, “oh gurl.” End/stop.

Go take your Ozempic shot and eat a cake.

You know, I feel like you should pull yourself up by your bootstraps and stop whining. You sound like the epitome of that old saying, "When you're accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression." Not that we're at "equality" yet.

The same period saw a tsunami-degree surge in TV shows portraying a seemingly inexhaustible array of Bad Evil Wicked Nasty Women stories, all of them "true" (that is, nonfiction), and NOT all of them served up on cable.

Dateline, the hoary Grey Lady of true crime, has played a subtle but increasingly disturbing role in putting out the message that when horrible things happen, especially to "good" and "innocent" and hagiographically halo'd men, Cherchez la femme.

The message from our corporate overlords is insistent and (over time) clear: women are bad. You cannot trust them. You must look to Daddy, whoever or wherever he is, instead.

"Locker Room Talk", by Melissa Ludtke, recounts her struggle to get equal access to the Yankees' locker room in the late 70s. In her case, Time Incorporated funded her lawsuit (she worked at Sports Illustrated). Today, she'd be told she was on her own.

Wow. Excellent article. This is the most lucid thing I have seen on this subject so far. I have heard arguments that otherwise left leaning voters were so sick of all of the stifling woke rules being shoved down their throats that they turned their backs on the Democratic Party, which was obsessed with telling everyone what to do, and voting for Trump, the maverick outsider who doesn’t play by the rules and talks like a real man. I always thought this was full of shit.

Excellent article. It pointed out to me why my three closest friends are women. You don't need to be a misnomered 'alpha male' to be strong. The first step is to listen. SFU and LISTEN!

reminds me of—and kind of embodies—the quotation “fascism was a counter-revolution against a revolution that never took place” which the internet says is from Ignazio Silone in an essay called The School for Dictators
