So this system worked all the years that McCain and Flake were elected, right? It's only out of whack if the Democrat might benefit?

Also, I look forward to Kirsten G. and Kyrsten S. in the Senate!

I voted in person at an election station set up for early voting in my district October 20. You still had to sign in and show ID and sign the electronic signature pad. It was set up in such a way that right handed people would find near impossible to use, to the left of where you were required to stand, angled down and to the left. And those touch screen signature pads exaggerate and distort your touch anyway, like trying to sign a square for a purchase that is about the size of a postage stamp. There is no way in hell anyone would look at my signature as submitted to the DMV when I became a resident of this state and the signature on the day I voted and say they bore any similarities to each other. Though I did my best.

The Nationalists cannot win without cheating, it was true in 2000, it is true today, 2008 and 12 were proof that we need a gigantic overwhelming tidal wave of votes so that all their attempts at rigging are fruitlessly implausible.

Is the War on Christmas on already? It's not even Thanksgiving, fer Chrissakes!

I'm sure Libertarians would like for each of their votes to be multiplied by 20.Because they are the best people and, as such, should get more votes, dammit!

The Green Party, right?

There's only one party that a) doesn't want everyone to vote, b) doesn't want to count every vote, and c) doesn't want every vote to count the same.

Just one.

I've been checking the status of my ballot for two weeks. Still not counted.

I think that rests in turning rural America away from the GOP by demolishing the pedestal of false piety they sit atop, and making it about the wages of sin afforded to those who lie in Jesus name.

Oh I am aware of the shenanigans that have been played by both parties over the years but the blatant threats of violence since 2000 has been something a bit different. Mobs ferchrissakes threatening violence to shut down a vote count? Unprecedented banana republic shit.

It's happened here and there. I've read accounts of LBJ's early congressional races that were full of shady shit. But in rural Texas in the 50s & 60a, it was the norm. And of course the political history of Chicago is very um...colorful. I think 4 of the last 8 Illinois Governors have served prison sentences. And a couple of decades back, Chicago had a troublesome nexus between the Dems, labor unions and organized crime.

But of course - I completely agree with your point. Today's GOP is about power, not principles. There are some honorable republicans - though lots of them have become alienated or outcasts like Nicole Wallace or David Frum.

Repukes suck! Fuck 'em all!

Make 'em count every goddamn vote. If Repubs are gonna pass convoluted laws, make 'em suffer through the consequences.

Oooh... you know, I miss him, but never thought of it that way. I would have if he was a Repug, but it's much harder when it is someone you admire(d). Sometimes it hurts to stand by your principles.

Someone said this yesterday, but it bears repeating. Why don't they just pass a law that you must vote Republican if you want your vote counted? Seems that's the direction we are headed anyway!!! The bastuds!!!

It is only too fresh still......dirty fuckers. At the time I had a colleague tell me that the Dems were just as guilty and I told her she was fucking lying or nuts.. When did the Dems ever engage in shit like that?
