she'll veto the bill. Jan is certainly not the sharpest knife in the drawer but she knows which side her bread is buttered on- the business community is pissed about this bill and they are letting her know in no uncertain terms. far too much of our economy is based upon tourism and the convention business and the people who make their living in this area are still recovering from the SB1070 fiasco (and unlike the braindead GOP true believers, they can still remember the MLK fiasco and don't want a repeat with the 2015 Superbowl). Brewer won't do the right thing for the right reason, but there is too much money at stake for that greedy old bag to sign.

Nothing new, they tried it under Ev Meacham about 30 years ago. Remember Ev's remarks about "pickaninnies"?

It's one thing to pass on a "protest" bill to prove a point to the wingnut electorate; it's quite another to suddenly realize, "Holy SHIT, this craziness might actually become a law!"

It's like voting for Palin as a protest, then suddenly thinking of her as a heartbeat away from the button.

As always, they are relying on the presumption that the other side (us) is not a bunch of vindictive douchebags, but actually practices the concept of inclusiveness.

The Hammer of Takei, God of Social Media, is about to smite Arizona. I give this bill a 1 in 6 bazillion chance of getting signed.

Fortunately, Arizona is covering all the douchewad bases this week. It's rounding the turn and coming up on the homestretch. If it keeps up this pace, it might just squeek past Texas. Yeah yeah mixed sports metaphor, whatever.

Herrod is attacking the foes of the legislation at [sic] foes whom she says, “have hijacked this discussion through lies, personal attacks and irresponsible reporting.”

Once again, the worst thing you can do is quote or describe your opponent accurately.

Snark off for a second: what area wants to discourage gay men and women? Gays frequently don't have kids, so they pay taxes towards schools and related programs without children to use the resources they paid for. When they have children, they have had to work hard to get them so they have relatively few and take good care of them. Those factors alone would seem to make them a group that you'd want to attract. Meanwhile, in my area of rural Virginia, several of my daughter's friends are being raised by grandparents or in one case great-grandparents or other people because the parents can't or won't take care of them. Often there are several siblings in the same situation. But god forbid a gay person move in.
