When I started teaching at my current school, back in the mists of time, there was a teacher who had impregnated a student in the 70's. Everyone knew about it; nothing had been done. A few years ago, a bored colleague was checking out certificate status on teachers; found out that pedoteacher's certficate had been completely and utterly revoked several years ago, with no explanation. Right around the time the victim had moved back to her home town. Not enough, but still profoundly satisfying.
