Arkansanans deserve the government they choose. Zero sympathy here.

or, at the very least the bill would justify non-coverage (often post-facto from treatment) by health care providers -- you know, the ones that come chained to your job. that way everyone who isn't aligned with some corporate interest, then gets sicker by abstaining from treatment or delaying it. why aren't you plebes loving this?

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;"

The religious right keeps pushing the envelope when it comes to the phrase, "prohibiting the free exercise thereof" and it keeps biting them in the ass when they try to get their bigotry codified.

It bit them in 2015 on gay marriage and the recent Bostock v Clayton County where Gorsuch of all justices expanded LGBTQ rights.

It's nothing like the tragedy you went through but my story illustrates what "they" really think of fetuses.

Long story short my wife, pregnant with twins, began a miscarriage at between 6-7 months. Her doctor put her in the hospital to begin induced labor which lasted 22 hours and damn near killed her.

She delivered the dead twins around 3:30AM and I was quickly told that by law I had 8 hours to dispose of the bodies or the hospital would dispose of them as medical waste.

That left me with around 2-3 business hours to try to make funeral home and burial arrangements which turned out to be impossible anyway especially with the time terms I wanted so she could attend.

I ended up getting an out of state funeral home whose owner her family knew to pick the bodies up and prepare them for burial 3 days later.

These babies would have been viable according to her doctor. One strangled on an umbilical cord and he could make no determination as to why the other died but he died after the first.

Medical waste is what one of the most conservative states when it comes to abortion thought of these babies that were not fetuses.

And who is one of Arkansas' Senators? Why, none other than the lovely Tom Cotton, recently voted Most Likely to be Fragged by His Own Men.

They sure grow them mean in Arkansas, don't they?

I think their real goal is not to allow providers to withhold treatment based on conscience, but to force as many people that they don't like as possible to leave the state.

As well they should.

I did live there, for a fairly long time. I'm not from there, and I did get out. I would not move back despite certain advantages of the state.

I will just make the simple comment that while I have been in all the Southern states at one time or another, I have found that in even Alabama and Mississippi, often mentioned at the worst two, there can be some good things that happen there. Never seen it in Arkansas one single time, and would have avoided the state completely had it not been for the cost of gas and time it would've taken to detour around the state because of my destinations.

Well this is pretty fucking horrifying.
